In a surprising turn of events, actor Don Cheadle is replacing Terrence Howard in 'Iron Man 2'.
Cheadle will continue the role of Tony Stark's best bud, Jim Rhodes, who (in the comics) eventually takes on the armor and becomes War Machine, says The Hollywood Reporter.
There is no official word on the reason for the replacement but off-the-record sources say it's about money, among other things.
We love Don Cheadle and think he'll make a fine Rhodes. Still, we can't help but be disappointed by Howard's absence. He was great in the first movie. When we interviewed him at Comic-Con he seemed to have a deep affection for the comics and the character of Rhodes. He spoke about connecting with his father over the character and how he looked foward to being War Machine in a future film.
'Iron Man 2' is slated to film next year.
