Don't expect a love triangle in FF2

ComingSoon recently caught up with Kerry Washington and asked her a few questions about the upcoming film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, in which she plays The Thing's girlfriend.

ComingSoon writes:

In the comics, Alicia Masters gets caught in the middle of a love triangle between The Thing and The Silver Surfer, so we wondered if we'd be seeing some of that sort of thing in the Surfer's film debut. "Yeah, that's not so much in this film," she said, adding that there won't be any riding around on CG surf boards for her either. "I like being a part of the franchise. I like the people I work with in that franchise. It would be great and fun and wonderful if I could do even more on the third one."

Ah, so they are already talking about doing a third movie in the series? "Not definitely, but probably," she said smiling, probably at the thought of having to answer more fanboy questions about the franchise for the next few years.

"That's one step away from the original story." Ok, and?

New abbreviations are necessary. From the headline, I initially thought this story might have been about Final Fantasy.

The Alicia/Surfer relationship in the comics was important, because she was the one who helped "humanize" the Surfer; which led the Surfer to rebel against his master. Since Alicia is only a minor supporting role in the film series, I have a feeling that it will be Sue (lead actress Alba) who provides the fuel for Surfer's change of heart if that aspect of the original storyline is featured. I read somewhere that there's somewhat of an attraction between Surfer and Sue, so maybe director Tim Story is combining elements of the original comic storyline with Sue's infatuation with the Sub Mariner. After all, he was an emotionally conflicted "alien" too. That's my take on it.

Um, they didn't come close to anything in the comics in the first film...why is there hope in the second? Tim Story is the worse choice for this type of film. His last one was laughable...at best. I think I'll skip seeing this one until it debuts on HBO.

I guess when you're blind, it doesn't matter whether you date a gigantic rock, or shiny metallic alien.

R-rated alert*****Good point muchdrama, but you know The Thing is always hard, so she's gotta like that.
