Sony has revealed that it has a new biking game in development for the PlayStation 2. Intended for a summer 2003 release, DOWNHILL DOMINATION is based on the extreme sport of downhill mountain bike racing and puts players in control of a customizable mountain bike to race down vertical mountainsides and urban environments while performing stunts at speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour.
The game will feature both first- and third-person perspectives and have 27 levels to work your way through. Course styles such as Mountain Cross, Technical Downhill and Freeride will challenge players to chart their own courses through forests, city streets and canyons. Weather will also play an aspect in how you control your bike.
As for your wheels, players will be able to upgrade their bikes with various components to increase their performance and gain corporate sponsorship. Up to four players can compete in the game and you can also perform tricks and combat tactics to try and bring your opponents down to terra firma. A soundtrack featuring rock, techno, hip-hop, punk and alternative bands is also being assembled.
DOWNHILL DOMINATION is being coded by Incog Inc., the same company that brought the PS2 games WAR OF THE MONSTERS and TWISTED METAL BLACK to the console.
