Well said dalgoda, Viggo would be great in Thor 2 for Dr. Strange.

I was hoping for someone that seemed a little less heroic than Viggo for Dr. Strange but he should be okay. The important thing is that Marvel drops the Guardians of the Galaxy foolishness and focuses on characters like Doc Strange and Black Panther. Oh and "At one point David Goyer was writing one, until the executives asked him if he could take out all the magic. "?! I want to make a joke here but the truth is these "executive" morons should not be working in a creative industry, period. When you look at the successes vs. failures in the Hollywood big picture it's pretty clear a lot of studio execs don't deserve their jobs.
Doctor Strange with no magic? Ah, the wacky days before Marvel Studios. They made for some interesting and disturbing times.
I have been saying Benedict Cumberbatch would be a perfect Doctor Strange for a while...I have always imagined him with a bit of an accent lol
There are a few great choices, but I think whoever they choose needs to have some sort of eccentric charm about him. I would be in heaven if someone like Stephen Moffat scripted the film as well.....The man is pure genius.
I agree Fatpantz. My only disagreement with Benedict Cumberbatch would be his age. Never a big Doctor Strange fan, but always liked that he was a bit older than the typical super hero. A little white can-of-hair on the temples, a thin, cheesy moustache (or, maybe a goatee to stray a bit from the classic comic rendition), and he would be perfect.
Even if you didn't care for Dr. Strange in the comic books (Ditko's version was the bomb)...you have to admit, the movie version would be jaw dropping. Unlike any other superhero movie out there...he would walk the line between the supernatural and horror. I WANT a Dr. Strange film. And, a Black Panther film. And, hopefully, Ant Man is not a comedy and it is Hank and Janet Pym. Let's deversify a bit.
Dr. Strange is a character perfect for a movie. Strange fits perfectly into the story line for Thor 2. This just keeps getting better and better and the Marvel movie universe keeps growing.
My favorite run of Doctor Strange was when Strange Tales changed its name to Dr. Strange around #169 in the late 1960s. Doc even wore a mask for a while to look more like a superhero. Great art by Gene Colan on this run.
Every bit of news and rumor that comes out about Marvel's future plans makes me giddier and giddier. Oh how I wish they had the rights to all of their characters. Bring on Dr. Strange, in Thor 2 and his own standalone movie.
