The Review!
Dragon Ball GT, finally in America! Sadly they skipped the first fifteen episodes.

I will be reviewing both the English and Japanese audio tracks on this DVD. The Audio seems rather impressive on the English track providing you with a rich stereo track. They use all the familiar voices from Dragon ball Z, which is a plus on my account. The only downside to the English track is that the music used for the background is just horrible and doesn't match with the action on the screen. Especially the opening song used. Rap and DB just don't go together. PERIOD! The Japanese on the other hand is just perfect, the intro and ending Songs have been remastered in stereo, indicated by my DVD Player. Then the rest of the episodes are in plain mono. Which is not that bad considering the sound is great either in stereo or mono. This is also the first DVD to contain Dolby Digital Stereo from FUNimation.

The Video is one thing that really impressed me because they cleaned up the picture considerably. There are rarely any compression artifacts on the screen, not as many as the previously DVD's. I thought I would see a lot of grain on the picture but didn't.. Overall the video is top notch.

Well, this is hard. This actually looks like a 5-year-old using Photoshop made the Cover. It shows General Rilldo in the Front bottom right corner and in the back Goku shooting Ki blasts at something. It looks horrible compared to the previous DVD's made by FUNimation. Too bad. They could have showed something more impressive.

Menu: The menu seems to be like the ones used on the first DVD's produced back in 97. No animations just a static menu showing General Rilldo on the lower left corner, Pan on the upper right and an army of M2s on the right. Overall not that bad for the first GT DVD.

Extras are always bad when they come from FUNimation. They seem to reuse their commercials on VHS and put them on DVD. This time they added a Special Introduction to DBGT which tells viewer what has happen up to the first English DBGT Episode, since they skipped the first fifteen Japanese episodes. Not like many viewers would waste their time seeing this but then again there are a lot of NOOBS to the series. The next one is character profiles of the main characters on the DVD. Each only about a paragraph in length. The next is where the extras shine. Text less Opening or closing songs! Either the crappy English ones or the much superior Japanese songs. Then finally the trailers, which includes trailers for DBZ, YU-YU Hakusho, Blue Gender, and the FUNimation Central website. Not like any viewer cares for this. Overall the Extras are not that bad considering that FUNimation has a bad reputation with extras on DVD's.

This DVD contains 3 "Real" episodes and the crappy FUNimation Introduction to Dragon Ball GT. The introduction is basically a clip show of DBGT's first fifteen or sixteen episodes. I am not sure. Very horribly made too. They also never mentioned once the misadventures they had while collecting the dragon balls. They just tell the viewer they have to collect the dragon balls in the one-year time period and they end up on the machine planet. From there they officially change to the Japanese episodes. Which have been altered to make the show seem less violent.

Here is the line up of the episodes.

A Grand Problem----A Special Introduction to Dragon Ball GT
1) Pan's Gambit
2) Unexpected Power
3) General Uprising

17) Leave it to Pan. Operation Rescue Goku.
18) This isn't in the Data! Goku, Super Serious!
19) To Battle! The Mighty Mutant--Rild

While not as I had hoped it is still a great DVD to a great Part in the Dragon Ball Story. Give it a try sometime.
