As the father of the contemporary horror novel, Richard Matheson has won several writing awards including the Hugo. However, the best indicator as to the influence he has had as a genre fiction writer is what his fellow authors have said about him.

Stephen King once stated, "I think the person who influenced me most as a writer was Richard Matheson. [His fiction] came like a bolt of pure ozone lightning."

This month TOR books is releasing a collection of Matheson's seminal horror tales. Called TERROR AT 20,000 FEET, the volume brings together some of the author's best short fiction.
