In the latest genre-related purchase from the Sundance Festival, Dreamworks has acquired the domestic and remake rights for Oren Peli's PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, a "haunted house" flick he shot over a one week time period with his high-def camera and two unknown actors. The original Sundance feature will likely be distributed straight to DVD and the international rights has gone to IM Global, both distribution deals raking in nearly seven figures for director Peli.
Activity Concept: A young couple suspects that their house is haunted by a malevolent entity. They set up video surveillance to capture evidence of what happens at night as they sleep. Their surveillance and home videos have been edited into the 99 minute feature film "Paranormal Activity".
