DreamWorks is finalizing a deal to acquire the film rights to Ubi Soft's videogame SPLINTER CELL, created by Tom Clancy. Screenwriter Daniel Pyne would write the script.
The studio is looking to take the project over from Paramount. Peter Berg had been attached to direct, but has since dropped out. Berg, J.T. Petty and John J. McLaughlin had written a draft of the script last fall.
The story centers on the adventures of government spy Sam Fisher as he's dispatched to infiltrate an international terrorist syndicate and stop a high-tech threat.
Michael Ovitz will produce. Tom Clancy and Ubi Soft's Yves Guillemot will executive produce the movie.
