Duhamel on Transformers 4 Casting

There is no casting...

By Jarrod Sarafin     February 16, 2012

With no screenwriter currently attached to Paramount's recently announced Transformers 4 and a release date on June 27, 2014, it seems a tad bit early to be shoving microphones into actor's faces and asking whether their characters will return for the next adventure. Just a few days after Michael Bay confirmed that he's returning (after he shoots Pain and Gain) for the next production, the folks at E! Online didn't wait long before asking Transformers co-star Josh Duhamel whether he was returning.

"I don't think anybody's doing it. I know Shia [LaBeouf]'s not doing it. I don't think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it. Whenever these movies make that much money they're going to make as many as they can. [But] I haven't heard anything about it."

We're not sure why Josh is playing the casting agent for Shia, Tyrese, Rosie and the rest of the cast but that's reportedly what Duhamel had to say when asked the question.

Stay tuned as more information on Transformers 4 comes in later this year.

Seems a bit early to talk about possible casting, no stories or nothing has been established for the movie.

That's good news... maybe it will force Bay to actually focus on the Transformers. Afterall these movies are not called "Sam Witwicky and his amazing human & robot friends".

I believe Shia himself said that that was it for him before.

But let's be honest, this is all about trying to save face. "I'm not doing it" is code for please Mr. Bay call me, I need work

I think the interplay between Duhamel and Gibson is one of the more consistently fun part of the movies we've gotten so far. I wouldn't complain in the least if they came back.

Who cares what actors are coming back?  It's Transformers, not Boring, Annoying Human Characters

I don't CARE!  NO MORE!!  I defended Dark of the Moon as best I could (it's not THAT bad), but I'm over Michael Bay's version of Transformers.  Bring in Spielberg as director, or get someone who is more suited to plot-driven movies, and you might get my attention (assuming Shia LaBeouf isn't in it).

Otherwise, I'm done.  The awesomeness of Peter Cullen's voice doing Optimus Prime is no longer enough to sustain me through another film.

Here is the story.  A bunch of giant robots who like to turn into cars beat up on another bunch of evil giant robots.  Humans look on and whine.  Good robots win.  Bay makes more money.  The end.

InnerSanctum, ha!

Yeah, could care less about the humans returning or not.  For me, if Eric Idle is not in it as the voice of Wreck-Gar then I have no interest...;)

I'm with Cap...

I enjoyed the first one (most likely based solely on nostalgia alone). But the sequels were so unforgivably stupid that I could not even begin to enjoy them. I know many of you say that all you have to do is turn off your brain, but come on...these movies require total brain removal to get even a drop of enjoyment out of. And who really cares about the humans in these movies anyway. Since there is never any real story or plot development, it doesnt matter if the cast is comprised totally of actors from the Disney channel. Especially the military humans in the movie, they are far worse to watch for any extended period of time than Shia LaBeouf. But to blame any of the human actors for the reason these movies suck is ridiculous. I appreciate the fact these movies have brought in tons of money which is what breeds sequels, but it doesnt change the fact that I think these films are total garbage and will continue to be until someone besides Bay takes control. That won't guarantee the movie will be any good, but at least it will have a chance.
