Seeing as both his movies are a million light years away from this type of movie and his movies are very interesting it will be interesting to see how he handles a fantasy film.

Haven't played WoW since before MoP came out. I would rather this be a CG film instead of live action. Blizzard has always made amazing cinematics and I could see a full length movie made the same way.

I may have to go check in on Undermine and see how the gang is. UoD for life.

Not really sure about this, game-based movies always seem more Miss than Hit.  Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon Siege, Doom, the list of bombs is a long one.  I'm a big WoW player and I agree with flyinroo, maybe if it's a CG film it'll be okay, live action doesn't hold much promise.

Should just be a cgi movie, with heavy details.  They never get it right with live action.  I saw the Halo live action movie which was good but could have been better with it just looking like the best engine of the game.  I don't get why they do that.  Does cgi movies have to be stupid and quirky like Smurfs or other kiddie crap?  I like the cgi toon Tron right now that is for adults really.

I love this fantasy genre so I can never get enough of sword amd sorcery. Bring it baby

Not a gamer so I'm curious, do I need to be familar with any characters or are all the characters in this world fan made...anyone?

Although I'm sure the film would catch me up with anything pivotal the viewer needs to know

A film in CGI would be just fine. A have a feeling that a live action one is going to feel like LotR.

Wise - there is a lot of lore revolving around boss characters etc, so I am sure it would depend on what the story they went with was, and what time period.  As you said, I am sure they will (hopefully) do a good job of catching up the average movie goer to what they need to know

The Warcraft lore is quite repetitive. (Insert villain's name) was once good, but has become corrupted and is now consumed by evil/revenge. The story of the Lich King is by far my favorite from the lore. Years ago when they first announced a movie, it was said they would not be using any of the characters from the lore as main characters for the film. I wonder if they'll still go that route.

I would have no problem with another movie "looking like" the realm of LOTR. I never get tired of watching those films (or the new one), so if another franchise can come along and give us the same type of quality film and storytelling, then bring it on! That said, I don't know much about WOW, except for they have some really cool looking characters.

Know nothing about WoW except that people used to get obsessed with it.

I think it is a good idea to get a new innovative director a big fantasy epic like this. He quite possibly has a unique idea of how to do it that will be different from everyone elses.
