Duncan Talks Green Lantern

Clarke Duncan shows off first clip of Kilowog for Green Lantern

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan appeared on Attack of the Show to discuss his role as Kilowog for Warner Bros. Pictures' Green Lantern. He also showed off the first clip of his CGI character. Watch the interview and the clip of the character down below. You can also check out last week's 3D trailer premiere here.

The action-adventure also stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney and Geoffrey Rush. Helmer Martin Campbell led the direction, based on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg.

Plot Concept: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Green Lantern arrives in 3D/2D theaters June 17, 2011.

Thanks to raa2001 for the submission.

I like Michael Clarke Duncan. I wonder if it was a good choice to give Kilowog an easy, American cadence of speaking. I could be wrong, but Kilowog never struck me as that familiar in his way. I suppose the reverse could be questionable if they made him sound more alien. I don't know. He sounds like a really polished actor with a great voice and it doesn't fit him for me.

Mad love for MCD and his freaky voice! I said I was gonna try and stay away from the clips but I just cant dammit. And I'm liking this one.. a lot.

Wiseguy 5/27/2011 8:45:39 AM

Love it. MCD was perfect for Kilowog.

MCD is a great fit for Kilowog IMO. I hear ya Tallman. It's kind of hard not to watch these clips.

I lol'ed at "What's a Kilowog?"

InnerSanctum 5/27/2011 9:47:21 AM

Well, based on the previews, it makes perfect sense why Hal doesn't always wear a mask.  I  thought it odd, in the comic books, that out of all the Lanterns, he was the only one wearing a mask.  What is the point, unless you are protecting your idenity.

BunyonSnipe 5/27/2011 10:14:06 AM

Yeah, that mask really works well...

I would never have known it was Nathan Fillion!

So far this is shaping up to be pretty good.  It looks epic... I'm hoping I'm not disappointed.  I Love MCD, he such the man when it comes to these roles.  I love the respect and reverance he gives as well as always being well versed in the lore of the characters he plays or plays against for that matter

BunyonSnip:  Point noted.  If the ring is so magical...it would be easy to alter your appearance.  But, then again, it can be beaten by the color yellow.  : )

Nice.  I understood maybe... every other word of dialogue spoken by Kilowog.  Maybe less.  'Could be my laptop speakers, but it's the only thing that really has me worried about this movie.  In any case, I think his addition was pretty last minute, too.  Not that IMDB is always so reliable, but they only posted a name for the voice of Kilowog about two or three months ago and originally, it was someone else - Dennis Hystert, I think, from the Allstate commercials.  Anyway, 'still hoping it's a great movie and definitely planning to see it.
