Is Durarara US Bound? Beez and Manga UK Announce Titles

The London MCM Expo is underway and UK fans are rejoicing with a bit of news for new acquisitions by a couple of companies. Manga UK has just tweeted their announcements and they've picked up a good set of titles for release. They've got Vampire Knight and will be releasing one volume a month starting in October (US release from Viz Media is this summer, streaming on now), they've got the Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society Blu-ray release planned for before Christmas and they've also picked up the releases of Baccano! and Eden of the East from FUNimation. Manga UK still predominantly is going after bilingual releases when they grab  from US production companies.

More interesting for US fans is the news from Beez, the UK Bandai company, in which they've picked up Durarara!! for release. It'll be subtitle only. The series, which is finishing up its broadcast in June in Japan and in the US via Crunchyroll, is from the same author as the light novel series for Baccano! and many had hoped that it would get a FUNimation pick-up. With it being subtitled only, a US release would likely be from just a small set of companies, but there is also a rather significant chance that this could be one of the next Aniplex US releases following their Gurren Lagann movies. It would certainly be the right kind of "fresh" title to get out there to establish themselves.

In addition to Durarara!!, Beez also announced their acquisition of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Season 2 and the three Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam movies.
