Ryuugamine makes a split second decision that may put him in a heap of trouble as he brings home a girl with a head that's not hers.
What They Say
Mikado bumped into a girl with a scar on his neck on a street corner. With a sense of déjà vu he hears the sound of a whinnying horse. The girl was being chased by the headless rider. He quickly decides to keep her safe, and takes her home. However, she says she has amnesia. Unsure of what to do, Mikado speaks to Masaomi, but the only conclusion they can reach is that they have to wait and see. The next day, as Mikado returns home from school, he finds the information broker Izaya and the headless rider waiting for him.

One of the more beautiful moments of this series happened in the previous episode where the coincidences of life turn up. That coincidence was when Celty, idly chatting with Shizuo about things, has her head literally walk in front of her while poised on top of someone else's body. Her reaction was priceless as she recognized what it was in a shocking instant and then began to give chase to get it back since it is what she's been searching for. Unfortunately for Celty, she lost track of her when her head ran into Ryuugamine in the street and he helped her escape from the Headless Black Rider.
Having escaped from Celty, Ryuugamine now finds himself in an unusual position. He's got this girl back home with him but she's completely passed out from everything and sound asleep. He tips Kida to the situation, who is definitely interested in her, but they end up putting off the issue for awhile since they have to go to school. It's interesting how that plays out there as Kida can't help but talk but it doesn't balloon into a big or strange situation when Ryuugamine is confronted about it by others. It's just something that happens that the other boys consider to be a good thing for Ryuugamine. Much of the first half feels kind of pointless though as Ryuugamine goes through the routine at school and has some odd conversations with other classmates, either about the Dollars or with Sonohara whom he likes.
Ryuugamine's life definitely isn't going to go smoothly from here on out though and having Izaya with Celty coming across him certainly won't help. Izaya is priceless during this brief encounter where he mimics Celty's motorcycle and just comes across as playful. The dialogue between Ryuugamine and Celty is far more intriguing though as the two talk about what's going on in the access tunnel and he understands the reality of Celty's situation. Celty's forthrightness is intriguing since she's feeling like she has to be more upfront about everything since her head is so close by. Celty's approach to getting to the girl is definitely refreshing as she's trying to make sure she doesn't miss out on this opportunity while not going overboard in being too aggressive on it
The tenth episode of Durarara!! is certainly a fascinating thing when you get to the last frame and it possibly upends everything we know. There's a lot of mellow material here overall as Celty tries to get closer to her head an Ryuugamine is finding his place in the midst of all of this. But those final frames when Ryuugamine's personality almost seems to change and Izaya has a look of pleasure about it speaks that there may be something radical coming in the next few episodes. The direction of the series has been going fairly well so far but now we're starting to possibly see the edges of what the real plan is all about which is very exciting. This isn't a standout episode but a solid one that lays out more of the foundation that we hadn't quite understood yet.
