The object of Saika's attentions comes into full view and it's turning into quite a nasty situation
What They Say
Anri was the slasher's target. Kadota and the gang happened to see her get attacked and went to save her. Shizuo and Celty joined in, and the slasher was at last defeated and his identity revealed. But their relief lasted only for a moment, as Celty is stunned at the chatroom log she says. At the same time, a certain person visits Anri when she returns home...

Unsurprisingly, the events of the previous episode get spun out in a more connected form with this episode. A lot of the last episode was mildly dull at best because it felt like a recap of sorts as we followed the reporter, Niekawa, as he went about town exposing himself to various dangers and personalities. It served fairly well to acquaint newer viewers with what's going on and touch on the town itself a bit after all the changes in the last several months since Celty revealed herself. Overall though, it wasn't until the end that we saw Niekawa take on the role of the Slasher, possessed as he was, as he went aft Anri.
It was pretty much a given that we'd see his daughter at some point since he chose to mention her, but after Niekawa was taken care of by those who came to Anri's defense, it's certainly a surprise to see Niekawa's daughter arrive so soon. She pretty much followed Anri home and knocked on her door, allowing herself in. What makes it all a concern is that Haruna has the same look as her father, but not in quite the same Slasher possessed way. She's intense though, angry and intent on using that to gain her revenge on Anri so that she can love all of humanity. Saika's possession of Haruna, or Haruna's nature that allowed herself to be taken over, has put Anri in quite a lot of trouble.
But Haruna has a large plan in mind as we quickly see as she's far more intent on making more people like her, that will follow her way. This turns into a sizeable rumble that's ready to happen as the streets are close to being filled with people possessed like that while Haruna is intent on killing the love that she believes that Anri stole from her. At the same time, we've got Celty figuring out a bit more about the knife that was used by the Slasher and what it may mean, which has her sprining into action to try and stop Haruna from hurting Anri. What turns into a good spot of fun after an uncertain moment where you aren't sure what he'll do, Shizuo leans that the power that he has is actually wanted by others, a good number of them, and that makes him feel more comfortable with it and not quite so much a strange person that he's viewed himself as. All of this slowly ties together at the end with an intriguing revelation scene about Anri that will definitely change perceptions of her, as well as causing the viewer to want to go back and revisit her past on screen time.
Durarara!! adds a few more layers of plot and connectivity here with the events shown while also tweaking Anri a bit more with her past. The show has slowed down a bit in the last couple of episodes, but it's starting to pick up steam again as we see toward the end here. The Saika presence is certainly intriguing, but at the moment it's still all too undefined to really figure out exactly where it wants to go and do with the story. This episode focuses more on Anri while also letting Celty play a key role but we do get time wither other characters, including a very amusing one between Shizuo and Izaya where Izaya brings a knife to a fight where something much bigger is required.
