Durarara!! and Soranowoto Final Episodes Delayed

Streams of final episodes delayed until home video release in Japan

Rob Pereyda, VP of licensing at Crunchyroll, noted on Twitter that they "will stream DuRaRaRa 25-26 and SoRaNoWoTo 13-14 the same day as Japanese home video." These two titles are the ones that are being handled by Aniplex of Japan and what may be true, though information is sketchy at this point, is that these may be DVD only releases to begin with. Soranowoto was originally solicited by being a thirteen episode series and the last two may be getting only a home video release. Durarara has a lot more time to go but has always been talked about as a twenty six episode series, though it is nowhere near unusual for a show to have its final episodes be DVD only releases. While the news is frustrating for fans, especially as neither title has home video release dates for the respective volumes of these episodes, it is very good news that Crunchyroll will be able to stream these episodes eventually (and hopefully with some fanfare to remind people about it) instead of them being unavailable to English speaking fans at all.

Because...  You know.  \_(^_^)_/

Making anime IS a business, it's not for free, and "you get what you pay for."

Anime's a privilege, not a right.  Remember?  "An expensive hobby for people who are broke." :P

These episodes definitely are DVD-exclusive episodes in Japan.  Only 12 episodes of SoRaNoWoTo are airing on TV, and DuRaRaRa's TV broadcast was always listed as 24 episodes.  Barring a delay of one of the volumes, the 7th DVD/BD of SoRaNoWoTo should be released on 29 September 2010.  The 7th DVD of DuRaRaRa will contain a bonus episode and will be released on 25 August 2010, and the 13th DVD with the final episode will likely arrive in February 2011.  Again, that assumes they stick with the current monthly release plan and don't delay any volumes.
