The Dark Knight Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dbrock06 12/9/2008 6:40:17 AM

Does anyone know if there is going to be any deleted scenes on the Batman Blue Ray disc?  I am dying to see more Heath Ledger footage.  He was ridiculously good as The Joker.

It's interesting that on a day where the biggest movie of the year comes out on DVD that this DVD shopping Bag column only barely mentions it, almost in passing.  Just a quick listing showing that The Dark Knight is available today.  I'm not saying that The Day the Earth Stood Still is not a classic.  It is definitely a classic.  Just weird that Dark Knight is not the focus of the article, telling us DVD buyers who has which editions and with what bonus gifts, and what cover art.

EVERY site out there is reviewing that DVD today.  EVERYONE knows its coming out.  NOBODY needs to push it for sales.  I think its cool that this site is showcasing something else instead.  Being a fan of the original DTESS, I'm more than a little excited to see this version.  I'm kind of hoping it's actually a continuation of the original story in a way, as it seems like the message from the original movie wasn't heeded, and this looks to be their warning now coming to fruition.

"Stop your violent ways, or we will stop it for you.  Our system isn't perfect, but it works.  You have been warned."

dbrock - I am sure this is #1 of at least 4 incarnations of this DVD (whether blu-ray or not).  This is the "let's cash in for x-mas" edition and they'll at least be 1other for the "buy the Trilogy" edition once the 3rd one comes out....  The extra Heath will be down the line I'm sure if it's not in this version.

There’s a reason why it’s being covered everywhere else, its big news and it should be covered here. However, if I’m not mistaken last week’s Blu Ray column talked about The Dark Knight along with some of the other comic book movies.

From everything I’ve read, there is very little stuff on Heath Ledger and his Joker performance on this current release of The Dark Knight. It sucks, plus I’ve already seen most of the stuff being released with the film (both History channel specials and the Gotham News bits).

Irasicible is right, the Ledger stuff will be on the inevitable future TDK release right before the next Batman film and then some more stuff for the Trilogy release. I hate myself for knowing I will end up buying each release.

I'm of the mind that the most critically and financially successful comic book adaption of all time deserves more than a cursory nod as well. Truth be told, the marketing for this hasn't been as saturated and overexposed as one would expect for the second highest grossing film of all time but whatever.

What irks me is that the UK is getting the Blueray of Equilibrium before us. Now that's a film that deserves a bloated, special features-laden HD edition.

I don't know that we really need it for right now....I agree that at some point if and when the third one is done, there will be a box set that will make all of us salivate, and we'll all buy it, because there will be things on it that make it worthy of buying it...we'll all get this one and grimace because we all know that we're all going to buy the box set, when it comes out.

TDTESS is a classic film and should've gotten the props it did, we all know what TDK is has done and that it won't be topped. Still this is a great movie, and one of the best, and is the genere movie of the moment. TDK is and will be timeless.....actually, I think that the timing of the remake comes at a time where we can really appreciate it.....

...and yes Hanso....The Dark Knight Lives!!!!
