Early Look at BEOWULF

The Los Angeles Times had an early look at footage of Robert Zemeckis' BEOWULF.  This same footage will be appearing tonight on a special 3-D format at Comic Con 2007. Tomorrow, it will be released in standard format in Hall C of the convention. The LA Times describes a scene they were shown and releases two new production photos. The photo on your immediate left is Ray Winstone as the lead character.

From the article:

Angelina Jolie's lips look even fuller than usual. She's emerging naked from a pool of dank cave water, rivulets of gold streaming gently down her body.

"Giiiif meee sonnnn," she coos, in an Old English accent.

Her flaxen hair is braided down her back in a long tail that slowly undulates and slaps the dark pool around her. She continues to purr enticements about making babies as a virtual camera circles 360 degrees panning around her long limbs and waist. Gold dribbles down her inner thighs past her feet, revealing sharp stilettos merged with bestial hooves.

Plot Summary: This take of the classic from director Zemeckis is a hyper violent and highly sexualized tale of the warrior Beowulf (Ray Winstone) who must slay the monster Grendel (Crispin Glover). Later, Grendel's mother (Jolie) seduces Beowulf so that she can produce a replacement heir that will allow her to reestablish her dominion over the kingdom.

BEOWULF hits Imax and standard theaters everywhere on November 16, 2007.

Hmmm... why not show the semi-naked Jolie as described instead of some push-up boy that looks more like he's straight outta ye olde b'eauty parlour getting a back, sack and crack wax instead of ye olde dark ages. I can see this flick going the same way the rest of the Beowulf remakes have gone, with the exception of Crispin Glover. H'es good, but that dude is creepy. Jolie's tits wouldn't hurt it either.

This picture looks like something from a 70s movie.

Yeah, this looks like a screen shot from that 80's version of Hercules with Lou Ferigno...

Well, they showed this because genre fanboys are often attracted to homoerotic images. Go see Top Gun and 300 for some prime examples! :)

Ray Winstone is a solid actor! He was amazing in The Proposition and in Sexy Beast. He's in great shape for this film, he has always been a bit bigger. I also want to see this for Crispin Glover.

I don't know...this is the third time this story has been done in the last few years. The most recent starred Gerard Butler. I'm not sure what they are really bringing to the table here outside of "sexy" and better special effects. I never really saw the story as sexual and the comment "sharp stilettos merged with bestial hooves" makes it sound a bit silly. Is Grendals Mom a stripper now? I can honestly say, no movie stars "tits" are going to make me see a film.

I do have to admire how they got Winstone to lose so much weight. The guy was out of shape in a major way. Hey, on a movie star diet, exercise and personal training program, I guess ANYONE can beef up and trim down. And everyone gave Tom Hanks such kudos for losing his flab...if this was a testimate to Winstons performance in the film...he would win an academy award hands (and donuts) down.

The script was written or adapted by Neil Gaiman. I will be there opening day.

Hmmmm....... lets see, A flim called Pathfinder failed, this will fail also.
Todays movie public does go for sword & sorcery epics anymore. the 80's had a slew of them Yor, Beast Master Conan the Barbarian etc.
And FanBoys want Masters of the Universe?
please.

In about a half an hour, Ill be watching Wrath of Gods, a making of Doc which explores all the awful and exciting experiences that went into making this movie. From what I've heard, It's more entertaining than the actual movie. Stony Brook film festival gets better every year.

I just saw some footage on Entertainment Tonight. Creepy like Polar Express but I'm totally intrigued. From one of the LA Times pic you can see digital Anthony Hopkins looks like real Hopkins and from the ET footage I especially like the smoother digital Jolie.
