Clint Eastwood and Halloween don't exactly go hand-in-hand but according to the trades, that's the time when his next thriller The Changeling hits theaters. The film will hit limited theaters October 24, 2008 before going wide a week later and it stars Angelina Jolie,  Jeffrey Donovan, Colm Feore, Amy Ryan, Michael Kelly and John Malkovich. The legendary Eastwood is directing, based on a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski.

Plot Summary: Clint Eastwood directs Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich in a provocative thriller based on actual events: "Changeling." In the film, Christine Collins' (Jolie) prayers are met when her kidnapped son is returned. But amidst the frenzy of the photo-op reunion, she realizes this child is not hers. Facing corrupt police and a skeptical public, she desperately hunts for answers, only to be confronted by a truth that will change her forever.

Los Angeles, 1928: On a Saturday morning in a working-class suburb, Christine said goodbye to her son, Walter, and left for work. When she came home, she discovered he had vanished. A fruitless search ensues, and months later, a boy claiming to be the nine-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of cops, reporters and her conflicted emotions, Christine allows him to stay overnight. But in her heart, she knows he is not Walter.

As she pushes authorities to keep looking, she learns that in Prohibition-era L.A., women don't challenge the system and live to tell their story. Slandered as delusional and unfit, Christine finds an ally in activist Reverend Briegleb (Malkovich), who helps her fight the city to look for her missing boy. Based on the actual incident that rocked California's legal system, "Changeling" tells the shocking tale of a mother's quest to find her son, and those who won't stop until they silence her.

This does not sound too sci-fi. I would like to see what Clint would do with some fantasy edge to it. In fact what's this article doing here and not on some Bridges of Madison whatever type of site?

It's here because Clint wanted it here and you don't give any lip to Dirty Harry or he'll tell you to shut your face.

It's here because it is a genre film with a neat twist at the end.

****Spoiler*****

The boy who is returned to Jolie turns out to be a 5,000 year old mummy that likes to dress up like a cowboy and steal the souls of Prohibition-era single mothers. Jolie's character is helped by a young Vernon Presley. Vern is aided by his sweetheart Gladys and her talking pies.

***End Spoiler************

If anyone can pull such a complex story off it's Eastwood. I'm looking forward to this.

Clint is a great director, I'd check this out for him alone, but not sure I'll see in theaters.

Are you kidding joey? I can't tell. That sounds like an interesting movie, but from Eastwood? It sounds like a joke. Not that I don't think he could pull it off, it's just that it sounds beneath him. His whole career in Hollywood has been drama. Even being as old as he is, if I saw him in a dark alley way, I'd be running the other way. I mean the only thing close to a Sci-Fi flic that he's done is 'Space Cowboys'.

Dazzler I was wondering the same thing. Also, why is this movie getting a "Halloween" type release? It doesn't sound scary?

I never kid about talking pies capt.

stupid sounding - eastwood loves these older movies - he is a great actor/director but come on how is this movie gonna stand up against others is this really a movie you wanna go out and pay money to see or a movie your willing to wait till it shows up at blockbuster or HBO .

It might be on this site because the screenplay was written by Straczynski. JMS is The Shit! Bab5 Rocks!

Oh, and props to Clint for telling Spike to shut his face!
