Editors Like The Sound of Comic-Based Fare

The MotionPicture Sound Editors have announced the nominees for the 50th AnniversaryGolden Reel Awards, saluting excellence in sound editing. Several comic-basedprojects garnered nominees.

Spider-Manand Road To Perdition got nods in the "Best Sound Editing inDomestic Features: Sound Effects/Foley" category. The two comic pics squareoff against The Bourne Identity, Gangs of New York, MinorityReport, Panic Room, Attack of the Clones, WeWere Soldiers and xXx.

Those two alsomade the list for "Best Sound Editing in Domestic Features: Dialogue/ADR".Other contenders include Antwone Fisher, The Bourne Identity,Catch Me If You Can, Chicago, Gangs of NewYork and Minority Report.

Road ToPerdition also took a nomination in the "Best Sound Editing in aFeature: Music" category. Other nominees include Adaptation, CatchMe If You Can, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Gangsof New York and Unfaithful.

Switching totelevision, Smallvilleand Witchblade II got nods for "Best Sound Editing inTelevision Episodic: Sound Effects/Foley" list. The superhero shows facedown CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, ER, Fastlane,John Doe, Third Watch and The X-Files.

Comic-based fareJustice League, Static Shock: "The BigLeagues" and X-Men: Evolution made the list for "BestSound Editing in Television Animation". Other nominees were CourageThe Cowardly Dog, The Fairly Odd Parents, He-Man andthe Masters of the Universe, Robbie The Reindeer and SpongebobSquarepants.
