Ehren Kruger to direct "The Keep"

According to Variety, StillKing Films has acquired the film rights to Jennifer Egan's supernatural novel The Keep. Ehren Kruger (The Ring) has signed on to direct the adaptation.

The novel is a supernatural thriller set in an ancient, history-laden Eastern European castle in which a woman is seduced by a mysterious prisoner.

StillKing is a Prague-based financing and production company that's served as co-producer on projects including Casino Royale, The Illusionist, Everything is Illuminated, Van Helsing, The Bourne Identity and Shanghai Knights.

for a second there, I thought they were remaking the Michale Mann flick from the 80's

yah me too... its shame really... is M.Mann's The Keep on DVD yet? i caught it (again) on Encore cable and was surprised at how well this flick holds up over time... its super cheesy FX by todays standards but rockin to watch on TV any night of the week... kinda like Highlander or ..uh... Krull? LOL!
