Eiga-Ban Beast Wars Chou Seimetai Transformer Special

What They Say

The Review!
Movie edition "Beast Wars" was theatrically shown in Japan at the end of 1998. It was composed of 3 short movies:
1. Beast Wars "Gekitotsu! Beast Senshi" (rehash of BW season 1 Japanese dub)

2. Beast Wars II "LioConvoy Kiki Ippatsu!" (movie special of Japanese original BeastWarsII cell-animated TV series)

3. Beast Wars METALS (BW season 2 episode "Bad Spark")

Title 1 and 3 are well known among English-speaking Transfans, so I'd just say they're well-encoded. Title 3 BW METALS has English dub with Japanese sub (with Japanese character names such as Convoy, or with original character names such as Optimus Primal).

I took 1 minutes to find out how to configure sub of Title 2. Actually the Menu has nothing to do with sub configuration, so you have to configure sub through your remote-controller. Of course it's written on the instruction manual, but who cares such a thing, especially in the case of DVD _software_ ?

Title 2 is, as I mentioned above, a movie special of the Japanese original BeastWarsII cell-animated TV series. Because BW season1 Japanese dub had profited TAKARA very much, they decided to start new toy line&anime series BEAST WARS II (second) to keep kids' interest till they complete the Japanese dub of season 2-3. Exactly speaking, there were very few all-new toys in BWII toy line, though.

Although BWII TV series started as one of the worst anime series in the sense of drawing, animation, scenario and voice-acting ( considering the fact that the sequel anime Beast Wars NEO started&ended as a fine kids TV series, it was probably because they hadn't had enough time and budget for BWII), BWII movie came out to be good.

In the movie, through the battle against the ferocious Transformer MAJINZARAK, a young Cybertron soldier LioJunior conquers his inexperienceness, loneliness and excessive self-confidence. Optimus Primal, aka Convoy in BW Japanese dub, is teleported from the prehistoric Earth and joins the fight.
