Eli Roth Confirms TRAILER TRASH Release

While the GRINDHOUSE may have failed horribly at the box office last Easter set against 3 family films (ranging around 1:30 hr a piece), some positive feedback was given to the various directors for their "faux trailers" in the double feature homage to 70's B-movie cinema. Enough so that Eli Roth has been planning a full length feature film called TRAILER TRASH based around these types of trailers. He announced the plans for this film in Comic Con 2007 but we haven't heard about it since that time. Not anymore. Roth has contacted Bloody Disgusting giving some details on the film and passing the release date along which is currently set for August 22, 2008.

Here's what he wrote to B-D.

"...that's the date (August 22, 2008)! TRAILER TRASH was inspired by the two days we filmed "Thanksgiving," which was the most fun I've ever had filming anything.

Trailer Trash is not a horror film, it's a comedy. It will be very R-rated and completely insane, and I'm producing it with Mike Fleiss (who I did both "Hostel" films with), and writing it with my friends Jeff Rendell (my "Thanksgiving" co-writer, who also played The Pilgrim), Noah Belson (my co-creator on "The Rotten Fruit,") and my brother Gabe, who's collaborated with me on everything I've ever done."

Eli Roth is Right Said Fred of film.... He was a one hit wonder, and that one hit sucked.

My sentiments exactly Madmanic. Not only that but these trailers for Grindhouse were fun because they're trailers, when you try to turn them into a full 90 minute feature it won't work for most. I mean a 2 minute joke is o.k. but that same joke for 90 minutes will bore most to death.

DON"T make the film...heed your own advice..because most WON'T go see it

You two are right Wiseguy and Batman.

I'm not going to watch a movie with a voice over saying "DON'T" for 90 or so minutes. Or a movie that's comprised of nothing but false trailers to bunch of obviously stupid movies that will (thankfully, or hopefully) never come out. It's bad enough that I have to sit through trailers that can run up to 20 minutes before the movie I paid to see begins.

Trailer trash is right. Plain ol' garbage. I wont bother with this.

DON'T waste your money on this...

Hey! Don't talk about Eli Roth that way. Thanks to him I'm going to be a filmmaker. I'll borrow popular ideas and add other popular ideas to them. Cabin fever(Evil Dead+Texas Chainsaw... +etc..), Hostel (Saw+Blair Witch Pro...+ etc...), Trailer Trash (slasher movies + etc...), and have I made my point yet or should I keep going. Look people just listen to any of his commentaires and he'll teach you how to borrow ideas from other movies and how to put them together to make your own horror movie.

I don't care for Eli Roth at all and don't make it a plan to see any of his movies, but for all of those trying to make "DON'T" comments, that clip was done by Edgar Wright (guy who directed Shaun of the Dead), not Eli Roth.

So how about you DON'T post something assinine until you read everything. It even says in the article his clip was called "Thanksgiving".
