Elysium: Official Trailer #2

More details emerge

Over the weekend Weta and Sony Pictures released the second trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium. If you caught the Man of Steel over the weekend, you probably saw this trailer. It looks as if the Summer of 2013 will end with a bang.

The Plot: In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Elysium features Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Sharlto Copley, and Alice Braga.

Elysium arrives August 9th, 2013.

That looks better and better the more they show.

Now we have a really clear idea about the plot.

I wonder if any prawns will show up to help Matt out :)

Wow, I feel like I've seen pretty much everything the movie has to offer after watching that trailer.

@jack...I agree; also, it's pro immigration and I'm sure we'll see the anti-gun, anti-big gulp, anti-bacon/red meat/coffee overtones and pro-nanny state overtones.

Wiseguy 6/17/2013 7:14:35 AM

LOL yeah but it looks good

Wouldn't expect anything else from Blomkamp, after District 9 you know his stance

CalamityJohnson 6/17/2013 8:05:18 AM

if taken for the popcorn - good

if taken to make a point and illustrate politics - bad

CalamityJohnson 6/17/2013 8:05:55 AM

will i watch? um... HELL YEAH

Sweet, it's a Halo

ripum853 6/18/2013 12:03:58 AM

I'm a huge fan of District 9, so I'll be there; and like what ddiaz alluded to, I like that Earth is familiar to the District 9 slums, and Elysium is basically Halo.
