Black Widow Blunted?

A Variety article indicates that Emily Blunt may not be playing Natasha, a.k.a. The Black Widow, in 'Iron Man 2' after all.

The 'Devil Wears Prada' actress, it appears, will instead join Jason Segel  and Jack Black for 'Gulliver's Travels', directed by Rob Letterman.

According to the report, the actress may be contractually obligated to participate in 'Gulliver' which could prevent her from taking on the super-spy role in the Marvel movie. 'Iron Man 2' is filming  in early April in California, while 'Gulliver' is set to start in March in the U.K.

Blunt's representatives told Variety that they are trying to work out the schedules so the actress can do both. Reportedly Marvel, Fox and Blunt's reps are optimistic that she'll appear in both movies.

THE MIDDLEMAN coming to DVD

With all the hubbub caused by great comic book movies at the theater this summer, it was easy to over look the wonderfully amusing TV series based on Javier Grillo-Marxuach's Viper Comics series 'The Middleman'. It aired over the summer on ABC Family to positive reviews.

Now on his blog Grillo-Marxuach (who wrote and produced the show) announces that the show will see a DVD release this summer.

Shout!Factory bill be bringing the set to market just in time for Comic-Con International in San Diego. Grillo-Marxuach promises the set will be "chock-full of the kind of extra goodness you have come to expect from the middleteam..."

OK, that music video realy sucked. Why can't they use the smashing pumpkins music that was in the teaser trailer?

AMiSHPiRATE 1/30/2009 9:56:07 AM

I hope Ghost Rider 2 borrows from Ennis's works and falls under the "marvel knights" banner.  Although with War Zone having done both of those to financial failure, I'm not sure they'll be keen to hop on that board (even though war zone rocked).

I am up for another GR, just get rid of Cage!

He sucked out loud.

Wiseguy 1/30/2009 11:52:53 AM

noahbody, you're 100% right. But Cage has dirt on all Hollywood execs, that's how he keeps getting work.

xeno, I too hope they use the Smashing Pumpkins. The music fit the entire mood of the film (graphic novel)  perfectly, thougth I'm sure there's enough room for more than just one song. But any commercial should be strictly Pumpkins.

Enough about Batman 3 until you can start giving out more specific rumors as to villains and plot, please. And let's hope Nolan gives us a decent Bat film for once.

I think Watchmen is going to be a MONSTER hit.  Especially with the way the world is today I think that mid 80's feel to it is going to fit in very well right now.

Not getting my hopes up about Batman 3 yet...rumors without any proof sounds like blog news to me.  I'm sure they have thrown some ideas around (how could they not) but lets not get too excited yet.

The Middleman was and is one of the GREAT overlooked genre shows of the past few years. It might have put off some viewers who thought it was a silly teen show since it was on the ABC Family channel but you would be so mistaken. It has some of the most clever ,humorous, and enjoyable writing I've ever seen on mainstream TV.

The basic set-up is a young woman artist, who happens to be into gaming, obscure horror and Sci-fi, comes upon a temp job with who turns out to be the Middleman. He is the latest in a secret organization that protects humanity from whatever bizarre threats that lurk against the world, be it aliens, monsters, succubi, ghosts, or even the evil spirit of Vlad Dracula inhabiting a ventriloquist's dummy. The show's style is like a mix of Get Smart, Ghostbusters, and Austin Powers. Each episode is chock full of  easter eggs with reference to characters, movies, and situations from a host of genre media. Even the famous Wilhelm scream is featured somewhere in every episode. If you've never seen it, I encourage you to go to the ABC Family website and watch some of the  online episodes. No fan of this website would be disappointed.

I hope they bring that show back.

I getting worried with the Iron Man film like it may not be as good as I thought it was gonna be what with the not paying the actors the money and now Blunt having schedule conflicts.I hope it gets sorted out cause I would like to see her as Black Widow.

If any character needs a reboot its the Ghost Rider film.I wish they made the Ghost Rider film that Stephen Norington and David Goyer were gonna do.I mean look at Blade I never get tired of watching that film. Also it was gonna be with Danny Ketch my favorite GR and the one I grew up on and it was gonna be more of a horror movie.I like Blaze but Ketch is far more powerful and cooler in my mind then Blaze.I mean the GR's powers and villains were pretty much Danny's.So I rather them reboot it and I get Johnny Depp or hell maybe they can do a Robert Downey Jr with Richard Greco.Yea lets bring back the Greco and have him play Danny.Hell he did the voice in the Hulk and FF cartoons....But I know it's not gonna happen so Cage needs to stop pointing all the time like he did and make this film more horror and dark then comedy.

I feel the same way Hobbs on how the world today is starting to feel like the mid 80's a little bit,and those pictures are great Nite Owl's winter suit looks good. Not a big C.Romance guy the song sounds ok I guess rather have the Smashing Pumpkins song.

Those G.I.Joe file cards at least they showed Zartan, even though he's not wearing his makeup or hood. Also showed the COBRA Viper soldier looked pretty cool to me and Dr.Mindbender looked pretty fucking sweet and it looks like Kevin J. O'Connor playing him.Whose always in Sommers movies where he was Joey in Deep Rising,Beni in the Mummy and Igor in Van Helsing.

Soundwave doesn't look too shabby his head looks the same which is good.A little surprised they made him like a cybertronian jet or a satelite maybe.I thought he was gonna be maybe one of those military vehicles with the sonic wave dishes like they used on the Incredible Hulk movie. But none the less he looks like a badass and I'm hoping Frank Welker will at least do his voice again.

Middleman on DVD?  Guns of Navarone, that just made my day! Middleman is the most clever, most entertaining TV show I've seen in ages. Its pages on the ABCFamily site actually disappeared a little while ago, which had me concerned it was going to go the way all my favorite shows always seem to.

At one point, ABC Family had mentioned that they would take DVD and iTunes sales into account when deciding whether or not to renew the show, so hopefully they'll see enough fan interest is there to warrant making another season or two.

Pigformers: Revege of the Crap is going to suck...My childhood has been raped to many times in the last few years(thanks lucas, thanks Bay) I hope and pray that G.I.Joe is good...it has promise after all it has steven sommers behind the camera and the only shity movie he's made was Van Hellsing.

My Chemical sucks and so far thats the only part of Watchmen I dont like.

A ghost Rider sequal...realy? did any one go and see the first one? I bought, watched it, puked and returned it....just crap. Cage hasent been in a good movie since The Rock, why do they keep giving work? Did anyone see Bangkok Dangerious? It sucked worst the a blow job from a vaccum cleaner.

sportwarrior 1/30/2009 10:25:38 PM

Cage wasn't the only problem with Ghost Rider, but he was one of the biggest.  That movie was quite possibly one of the worst movies I've seen in the last 5 years.

And Cage doesn't just have dirt on all of Hollywood.  He also happens to have a bit or royal Hollywood blood in his veins, being the nephew of Francis Ford Copala.  Ghost Rider is in serious need of a different creative team, a different director, and a different lead.  Then maybe he'll get the big screen treatment he deserves.
