Rapper Eminem will return to the big screen in a remake of the classic television series HAVE GUN - WILL TRAVEL.

The film will be made by Paramount Pictures and offer a modern spin on the 1950's Western series. Paramount has an 18-month window to develop the film as an action drama for Eminem.

The new movie will be "revamped from the original, with some characters based loosely on ones from the series as well as nods to certain story points," Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager told Variety.

Interscope/Shady/Aftermath Films will produce the film.

I`ve never heard of this. Was it any good? And what is up with the description under the pic? I mean 8 mile wasn't Schlinders List, but it definitely wasn't Cool as Ice. That`s just a stupid comment. Not to mention stereotypical ignorance about HipHop. white rapper eminem in movie = white rapper vanilla ice in movie.

or both egotistical music-industry stars trying to bank on their surging (or in Eminem's current case - fading) popularity by going into film. Doesn't mean that 8 Mile was a bad movie (I haven't seen it, but people whose opinion I respect say it was good), but the similarity goes beyond just being a white rap star, and can indeed be applied to most music-to-film transitions of so-called "stars". Vampire Los Muertos anyone??

ponyboy, "Have Gun, Will Travel" was a 1950s western starring Richard Boone as a freelance gunfighter named Paladin. The title comes from the business card he handed out. I haven't seen it myself (it's available on DVD), but it has a reputation of being one of the better western TV shows of the era.

Sounds like an excuse for Eminemem to play a gunfighter in a movie with a cool sounding title. And since it's virtually unknown among the demographics of his target audience, I suspect most of them will never know it was originally a TV show.

Oops, I meant "Eminem" not "Eminemem." It'd be easier if he just went by "Slim Shady" or "Marshall Mathers."

Yeah Pony, testify! Stereotypical ignorance! 8 Mile was such the remake of "Break'in 2: Electric Boogaloo". Any fool can see it!

Thanks Snally. I may have to check it out. I like those old westerns. I haven't seen a good western for quite awhile(Unforgiven) I was hoping that The Jesse James movie with Casey Affleck would be my next one, but it doesn't come out for like a year.
And you could be right Smoking, or maybe the dude just likes acting, and wants to do it again, unlike people like 50cent, who do just do it to sell more records and make more dough. And actually, Jon Bon Jovi is a pretty decent actor. He was just in a lousy movie. There aren't alot of good music to film transition stars, but they are there. Ice Cube, Ice T, Mandy Moore, Mos Def, Queen Latifah, Dwight Yoakum, and some more I can't think of right now.

I just call him Enema, a pain in the ass. Hiphop/rap is noise pretending to be music, performed by marginally talented morons who should be working at Burger King.

In modernizing 'Have Gun, Will Travel', doesn't that basically make it any number of vigiliante films where the only similiarity (if they keep it) would be the name of the character (or is Paladin not cool enough)?

"Have Gun, Will Travel" was a great old western, and Richard Boone was very cool as Paladin. The story is an old one; think of "The Equalizer" in the old west. If they want to update it and use it as a vehicle for Eminem, that's fine by me. I really don't understand the marketing of it though. This movie will attract kids and young adults, and I would venture to guess that 95% of them have never heard of the old western, so why use the name? I really doubt that anyone who watched the TV show is going to go to the theaters to see an Eminem movie. And, yes, I know that "Have Gun, Will Travel" (Paladin's calling card bore that phrase) is shown on a few cable stations, but I just don't see this drawing anyone because of it's title, so why use it?

That's my point exactly.
