Enchanted's director Kevin Lima is taking on another princess in the live-action take of Tom Thumb, reports Variety. Warner Bros. and Red Wagon hired Lima to adapt the character's origins to the big screen, based on a screenplay by Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan). Wagon's Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher will produce the project while Chris Chase is set to executive produce.
Warner Bros. is hoping the "Thumb" will score as a tentpole success with the character already being established from English folklore in the 16th century.
Plot Concept: The story is centered on an arrogant knight who's shrunk to 6 inches while assigned to protect a princess and then discovers what it means to be a real hero.
Lima is becoming a sought after man due to the box office success of Walt Disney's Enchanted last fall. The film racked up $340.4 million worldwide and also scored well in the DVD market. The director is also attached to Spook's Apprentice, a Warner-Legendary project set in the 1700s about a teenage boy training to be an exorcist
