This past weekend, Image Comics announced at Wizard World that fan faves Garth Ennis, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti will be producing the company's first adults-only title since publisher Jim Valentino's own VIGNETTES. PRO will be a prestige format one-shot with a script by Ennis, pencils by Conner and inks by Palmiotti. Focusing on a "super-powered prostitute," PRO will "go way over the edge" according to its creative team.

"We plan on keeping the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund) working for years," joked Conner and Palmiotti.

In addition to PRO, Image Comics will continue to explore mature territory with the Joe Michael Linsner Library. The Library will offer: a series of graphic novels covering all of Linsner's works, including a remastered version of the second DAWN series; THE ART OF JOE MICHAEL LINSNER, a high-end art book; and a new DAWN series.

"The Linsner Library will be a long-term project," says publisher Valentino. "We intend to make the works of this important creator available to his fans and keep it available for retailers to sell."

This may sound like Image is veering back into "good girl" territory, but Valentino insists this is not the case.

"PRO is a satire. Ennis is one of comics' premiere authors and he promises that this piece will be nothing short of blistering. Linsner is an intelligent writer whose art is far closer to Vargas in terms of its style, grace and quality than to the tawdry titillation books of the past. Image Central remains focused on a wide diversity of product from exceptional creators. We believe these projects and these creators fit that bill."

Protesting too much? In any event, check back with CINESCAPE for more on these and many other Image Comics projects.
