Executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga gather together with the upcoming program's entire cast to promote ENTERPRISE this week at the TV Critics gathering in L.A.
Here's a number of points touched upon at the event:
As previously rumored, the crew of this first Enterprise will wield phase pistols and only use their teleporters for picking up cargo. In addition, it was revealed that the ship will not have defensive shields, but will have to rely on its armored plating in conflicts. Beyond that, there won't be photon torpedoes.
And contrary to many previous denials, Rick Berman revealed to the assemblage that the program will have recurring elements of time travel, starting with the pilot episode. Berman also revealed that this pre-Federation Earth will be a better place to live than that which was depicted in STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT, though it will still be a "terrifying" place.
Rumors that FIRST CONTACT's James Cromwell might also appear on the pilot episode were addressed by Berman as being "not bad rumors."
Meanwhile, Brannon Braga revealed that the program may be pushing the evelope on sexuality on television. All Braga would say regarding this potential facet of the series was, "This is pretty sexy stuff that's coming up and so far nobody's slapped our hands."
