AN ENTERTAINMENT ACQUIRES MIAMI GUNS

July 8, 2003

AN Entertainment, the only Florida based home video distribution company devoted exclusively to Japanese animation, or "anime," is proud to announce its acquisition of the official English language translation and distribution rights to the anime TV series Miami Guns. This outrageous and out of control comedy combines the popular policewoman partner team dynamic of anime titles like You're Under Arrest and Dirty Pair with the bizarre and frenetic paced gag humor of best selling anime series Excel Saga. Featuring a pair of buxom beauties packing heat and side-splitting parodies of American and Japanese pop culture icons including Godzilla, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Matrix, Initial D, Wacky Races, Neon Genesis Evangelion, ninja movies, Rat Fink, Luc Besson's Leon: The Professional, Friday the 13th style slasher movies, spaghetti westerns, professional wrestling, Bruce Willis and Die Hard With a Vengeance, and much, much more, Miami Guns is a risqué and wacky thrill ride that's both accessible to initiates, and thrilling for veteran anime viewers.

ABOUT MIAMI GUNS

Yao Sakurakouji is the self-absorbed and short tempered daughter of one of Miami's richest and most powerful families. When she decides to join the police force, she's partnered with the sullen and slightly psychotic Lu Amano. Together the pair declare war on Miami's criminals, Yao's mysterious father, their own police force, and any and everyone else foolish enough to stand in their way!

First broadcast on southern Japanese television in early 2000, the 13 episode series was rebroadcast in the Tokyo area in the fall of 2000. The animation was adapted from Takeaki Momose's original manga by Group TAC, the studio responsible for anime series including Those Who Hunt Elves, Saiyuki, Oruchuban Ebichu, Ippatsu Kikimusume, and all of the Street Fighter anime. The animation was directed by Yoshitaka Koyama, the director of the Rune Soldier Louie anime TV series. Notable voice actors on the production included Megumi Toyoguchi (Yumi Oomura in Chobits, Mimiru in .hack//SIGN, Parfet Balblair in Vandread), Yukari Tamura (Ichigo Morino in Please Teacher, Ranpha Framboises in Galaxy Angel, Misha in PitaTen), Mitsuru Ogata (Lupin the 3rd: Dead or Alive, Millennium Actress, Burn Up W, Pokemon), and Rie Tanaka (Machela in Wild Arms, Saki in Steel Angel Kurumi, Chii in Chobits, and Koyomi "Yomi" Mizuhara in Azumanga Daioh).
