Meh...if they do that then they'll for sure be ignoring Zahn's books...which were much better. Thrawn would have been the best bad guy possible in my opinion. Oh well...the thought was nice while it lasted!
It seems as if each time we approach another holiday we get a little tease from Disney and Lucasfilm about Star Wars. This week there is a rumor circulating that Luke reignites the Jedi training facilities on Yavin 4. For those of you that don’t remember, Yavin 4 was the planet in which the Rebels had their hidden base in Episode IV.
The Guardian is reporting that: “Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode VII, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi knight academy.”
This follows suit with the Star Wars Expanded Universe as Luke went back to Yavin 4 and established the Jedi Academy in Kevin J. Anderson’s book with the same title.
Just a tease and rumor but that is all we have right now. Sound off, Maniacs, those of you that read “Jedi Academy”.

It's a fake rumor designed to put you off until they reveal the true plot:

Why is everyone put off by this? That means they'll make a Jedi Academy. And it doesn't mean any of the main characters will be kids...we may see them in the background but that's it.
Why is this news dumb? I think it's great if it's true.
The actual story was meant to be about the area HOPING the movies would return there for filming. Author got some facts mixed up and reported that Episode VII WAS returning there, confusing expanded universe books, with movie plot. Info is over at theforce dot net
A Jedi academy means there will be children and teens in the movie.
Disney plus kids plus brand recognition = License to print money
And the best part about this formula is that the product does not even have to be that good.
Wait, there's more; Disney has a whole stable of kid actors from their Disney channel shows just wating to be expoited... Er, I mean cast in a grand epic series of family friendly films involving pan galactic hyjinks... Er, I mean warfare and intrigue set against all theastronomical troubles of fitting in and simply being a misunderstood teenager in an academy where failure could mean being exiled to Tattooine.

Sweet! This is what I was hoping they'd do. Luke is the new cult leader.... i mean Jedi Master/Yoda of the galaxy. So who will be the new bad guy?
