put it back in space or on an alien world far from Earth and back in the future.

Seeing Lewis' picture on here triggered visuals from Alien 3 in my mind... and this is a good thing... putting it back in the timeline it should be. Here's hoping...

You're not alone, blinkbomber. I liked AVP for what it was. Some people seem to have absurdly high expectations for this "franchise".

Ah, the requisite troubled kid and accompanying siblings. Yeah, I'll bet they play an important part.

Hey, I hate to admit it, but I found AVP to be a good popcorn flick, probably because my expectations were low going in. It absolutely was not what I had hoped for, but it was ok. My major issue with this one is that it is set in the present and the aliens make it to earth, it just doesn't fit the continuity... I guess one or two plot twists could fix that soon enough though.

I too enjoyed AvP for the popcorn fest that it was. And, yes, I was a little disappointed too in a few things (how fast the aliens went from impregnation to grown-up especially), but I'm glad they're making another one. The cast doesn't exactly make me chher, but the movie's about the aliens and predators anyway, right?

Sorry, but I thought it sucked for the most part. I like the aliens. I liked the predators. I hated and loathed the 1 dimensional humans. They were freakin useless. And nothing annoyed me more than the unsaid, but feel of the romane between the idiotc heroine and the predator. That was magnanomously dumb! I hope this flick is better, but from the description of the humans on this, it does not bode well. Just scratch the humans or make them marines, so they can do a little damage. I`ll pay to see just the Preds and Aliens duke it out.

Well now I'm glad I never paid to see AVP...

My argument is that it wasnt intended to be by any means Wuthering Heights or Pride and Prejudice. We shouldnt be where we have to say that itrs a guilty pleasure. Hell, I loved the movie. Waited years for it and, although the human angle did blow chunks, everything else was on the mark. I cant wait to see what they do with the predator-alien hybrid if it is in the new one like they hinted at. I do agree though it might be cooler if it took place somewhere else as opposed to Earth. Just my two cents.

Gustavus, expect high expectations? It's never been lowered to the lowest of lows in the most gallingly, exasperating ways. You settle for mediocrity, that's fine for YOU, it has never been up to par after the surprisingly creditable and most deserving of kudos James Cameron's sequel. I still remember that long line with my brother at the Coronet theatre in S.F. That movie is undeniable proof that integrity in a story is there but what were treated to is the offerings from people without a clue and out of their element. It's true, that it's a matter of one's personal SUBJECTIVE opinion and judgement. Ain't concerned about your take on it, gustavus, it's quite apparent, you settle for incompetence and easily pacified by it. So far, everything after Cameron's example, they've eschewed believeabilty and now those horribly told stories viewers really have to exercise and are really forced to exercise a "suspencion of disbelief.'
