Funny...no mention of the E.T. movie with new footage or altered footage version...
jedibanner, in the the second or third geek life I reported that Spielberg told us himself (at the 30th Raiders Screening) that it would not include the re-release footage. He felt as if it robbed the audience of their childhood.
I'm disappointed by the way Speilberg alterd the film, guns into walkie talkies, indeed, hhmmpphhh!
At the end of the movie, ET now yells "Nooooooooo!!!!!" - on the advice of George Lucas.
Spielberg asked the audience at the time "new or classic" version for blu-ray and it was unanimous as they all voted classic.
If only George Lucas would do it this way instead of asking Rick McAllum for his opinion all the time.
Looking forward to a non walkie talking/CGI E.T.
Give credit to Paramount/Spielberg. When the initial DVD was released a few years ago, at least it had both versions remastered in the set.
My question is this - if it's not the "edited" version you're all referring to, is it the OTHER, older edited version?...in the THEATRICAL release, when the mother and older brother were arguing about his choice of Halloween costume, you hear her scream, "YOU'RE GOING OUT DRESSED LIKE A TERRORIST!!" which was changed for home video to "YOU'RE NOT GOING OUT DRESSED LIKE A HIPPY!!"...Yeah...Hippy...cause for outrage, Mom.
So pumped to be able to show my kids ET for the first time and in the crystal clear picture of Blu-Ray. I think this was seriously the first film that I saw multiple times in the theater. Of course I was 3 at the time.
