Movie Clips & Featurettes

E.T Clips of KNIGHT Online

Date: Thursday, June 26, 2008

While Entertainment Tonight said the clips they had to show were "exclusives", perhaps they weren't paying attention to previous trailers and television spots unleashed by Warner Bros. Down below, you'll see what they broadcast last night on their program in relation to the upcoming sequel The Dark Knight but you'll have to deal with the E.T announcer talking about the film over the scene's volume. Also, Nolan and his marketing gurus have updated their viral WhySoSerious website, taking away the Two-Face clip and leaving a Joker-patented message behind. You'll have to highlight the text there to see it.

You can watch those scenes shown below by seeing Trailer #3 here and watch all released trailers, clips & spots via our Dark Knight links.

Plot Summary: "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

The Dark Knight will hit theaters July 18, 2008.

For those interested (that means pretty much everyone) here's an interview with Heath Ledger that may or may not be old news... Very much looking forward to seeing his performance. I'm sure it's going to be amazing, so it'll definitely be bittersweet.

Well, it's an interview with Heath Ledger so it's old news. I believe we covered that particular one here a while back too.

Still, I totally agree with you sportswarrior. Everytime I see Heath Ledger in a trailer or clip for the Dark Knight, a part of me goes "Damn....".

The bittersweet feelings are there and I hope that his performance will be a true capping performance to his short career. We know he will play a small part in Terry Gilliam's next film but he only filmed a few scenes. This one will be his last full performance and I hope it does him justice. Since it's Nolan, I have a feeling it will.

Can you imagine what it was for Nolan in his editing studio after hearing Ledger passed away. A lot of weight on his shoulders and he doesn't want to let anyone down.

I'm pretty sure that was Dr. Jonathan Crane riding shotgun in that truck with Mr. J! I knew Crane was in the movie but I didn't know in what capacity. Everytime I think I can't get anymore jacked-up for this movie I see something new and I blow a fat load in my drawers.

I DON'T KNOW FLINT IT LOOKED LIKE IT MIGHT BE BUT I COULDN'T GET A GOOD ENOUGH LOOK AT THE FACE TO TELL..

That ain't Crane. I'm thinkin Scarecrow will pop up sometime during the beginning and have nothing to do with the Joker. From what Nolan has said about Joker just tearing through the film, it doesn't sound like Joker would do any team ups with other villains.

Clip was weak, more of the same with some very little new stuff, I liked the tv spots better.

Enough is enough, bring on the Bat!!

I am done with all the clips,TV spots, trailers and teasers. JUST BRING ON THE BATS!!!!!And I hope Scarecrow does come back even though for a small part. He was really good.

I'm like Wolfman. I'm not looking at any more clips or trailers or articles at this point. I just want to see the movie.

ALL E.T., ACESSS Hollywood & EXTRA talking Bobble Heads can make the most exciting footage of one of the films I'm looking the most forward to seeing seem like a walking Migrane... can they ever just shut up...

WISEGUY562 • Jun 26, 2008, 07:19am •
Nothing new there. Just bring on the damn movie already.
Scarecrow's role is supposed to be really small here, so I think hanso is right.

I am one of those who think our modern age, with its HUGE media focus, and with the Internet, is a real mixed blessing for movie fans. On one hand, you get some tremendously clever "viral" stuff - as in the case of CLOVERFIELD and DARK KNIGHT. On the other hand, it takes a truly supreme effort to remain even relatively "unspoiled". It isn't as simple as just saying "don't look"... you can't truly cut yourself off from the media tidal wave. Showing my age here, but... I remember with the first Tim Burton BATMAN movie that I WAS able to much more easily limit what I knew, and was glad for it. Hey, it is what it is, you can't turn back the clock or change the environment.

That being said...

I don't know if this is the intent of those running the KNIGHT marketing, but I think they have done a great job of shaping expectations about the movie. I don't mean in terms of whether the movie will be great or not - in THAT sense, expectations are now set VERY VERY high, which could cause some problems if fans feel the movie doesn't deliver at that high level! I am talking mostly in regards to their handling of the Joker. I have to admit that when I saw the first Ledger/Joker images, I wasn't immediately on board. He looked (for lack of a more eloquent way to put it) "messed up". Sloppy and messy and weird. It clashed with my "image" of the Joker - not so much the Joker's personality (which, after all, has been portrayed in many different ways over the years, as has Batman's!), but with the general visual image of the character. And I don't think I was alone in feeling that way. I recall some of the discussion re the Joker when those first images "hit" - not so much generally negative, as generally... contemplative. A lot of "Hmmmm". Thinking. Taking a step back, evaluating.

Over time, they have completely won me over. Seeing the clips, getting a sense (I think) of what they are "going for", I am now 100% on board. The Joker's "look" works for me, and if the clips/trailers are true to the movie, so does their take on the Joker's personna (love the "Why so serious" and "Bad choice of words" clips!)... I am not totally sure that would be the case if I had walked into the movie cold, no idea what was coming. Maybe... and over time I feel definitely... but by showing us as much of the Joker as they have, I think they have given the fanbase a chance to evaluate and assimilate, to get adjusted, and to get ENTHUSED.

I wonder if some of this was a conscious decision. Would be interested to see if this ever gets discussed by any of the principals involved in the marketing decisions...
