I just got back from seeing it. And wow...I was the ONLY person who showed up to see it. I literally had a private showing all to myself. And it was shown on one of the huge screens at the theater.

As for the movie itself. The animation was spectacular, but honestly, I thought the movie itself was pretty bad. I knew it was going to be a completely different retelling of the story, but I think they went too far with it. It was like it wasn't even an Eureka 7 movie at all. But even taken as a stand alone movie, I didn't think it was very good. It was way too hard to follow, and just didn't come together well at all in my opinion. It just felt like it went nowhere, and that there was just a bunch of action sequences thrown in for no reason. I didn't even understand what was happening for more than half the movie, and as an anime veteran who has seen plenty of convoluted plot lines, that's saying something.

Even so, it was still fun to watch, simply for the beautiful animation. But if I'm looking at it in a purely critical point of view, I'd honestly give the movie a D- rating. Seriously one of the worst anime movies I've ever seen (right up there with the Nadesico movie).

I'm sure die hard Eureka 7 fans will get a kick out of this one. I loved the tv series and will proably love this as well. However I am waiting for the dvd release for this one to come up witch I hope will happen within the next 6 months to a year.
