Director Frank Miller has made it clear recently that he will do justice to the adaptation of Will Eisner's comic, THE SPIRIT. Eisner's strip was known for its women with dangerous curves, and Miller is keeping that tradition. Last week, he chose Scarlett Johansson to hop aboard the feature film as a character named Silk N. Floss, a sexy, dangerous & vindictive secretary who could be an accomplice to the villain, Octopus(Samuel L. Jackson). Today, Variety is reporting that Miller has also selected Eva Mendes to appear in the film but there is no word yet on which character she will play in it.
Plot Concept: Gabriel Macht is playing the title character, a detective who fakes his own death in order to fight crime in Central City as the masked man known as the Spirit. Eventually, his crime fighting will lead him to Central City's sinister mastermind, Octopus(Samuel L. Jackson).
THE SPIRIT will hit theaters sometime in 2009 for Lionsgate.
