The longest story in this anthology has futa and many of the other chapters involve the loss of virginity.  Great stuff for some fans, but not for all.

What They Say
Seven stories from the creator of Anzu. My Transsexual Friend - the newest student at an all-girls academy quickly becomes the center of attention because she has a special extra something. 36.5 Degrees Incident - Misao wants to confess her love to a boy, but she has a little problem whenever she gets nervous...

The Review:
The partially dressed school girl on the cover is a good primer to most of the stories in Evanescent Passion.  This book has numerous one-page images by the author that were originally color, but are reprinted in black and white in this Icarus release.  The printing is clean throughout the book.  The fact that Icarus titles are always printed so solidly makes me wonder why the bigger companies can’t pull off this consistency.

Kirikaze’s artwork is highly detailed, especially for an ero-manga.  Characters have a large amount of detail in their eyes and clothing.  All the women have believable breast sizes that fit their bodies and Kirikaze does a good job shading, using speed lines for a sense of motion, and a true sense of squishiness for the breasts.  The women appear a little young for my own personal tastes.  The last Kirikaze book I reviewed left me unimpressed with the variety between characters and this book is no different.  The two main girls from the longest story in this book are redrawn exactly for another story, just the girls have different names.  With that issue also comes the fact that I sometimes have a difficult time telling one girl character from another.

The translation reads well, despite the usual grammar problems seen with Icarus titles.  Honorifics remain in all the chapters and are prevalent.  The Japanese SFX remains but lacks an English translation.

Contents (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
The first chapter, ‘Sky Time’, is designed after my own tastes.  Seems there is an airline company out there that will do anything you want in the highest upgrade cabin.  Each passenger gets their own room with a strangely shaped bench seat and their own personal flight attendant.  The attendants really will attend to any need you have, even if it involves the mile high club.

‘False Reality’ is a story about a couple of guys with the ability to mesmerize girls.  The girls travel to the dudes house for sex and games before returning home and waking up in the morning without remembering anything.  Forced sex is not my forte, but it is an interesting concept.

There are two multi-chapter stories in this book.  The shorter is about a woman who shifts dimensions after her husband is killed in a freak accident.  He died protecting her, so it is really touching for an ero story.  In the alternate dimension, her husband is still alive, but when she shifted dimensions she forced her alternate self into her old dimension where her husband is dead.  Will she continue in her new world where her husband is alive, or own up to the situation and go back to her real world?

The longest story in this anthology is about a futanari girl attending a new all girl academy.  Turns out, her old friend attends the same school and they quickly get back to having sex.  It doesn’t take long for the futa secret to get out, leading to a lot of classmates desiring some face to face time with her extra appendage.  But what about the class president?  Will her anti-lesbian stance force her to toss futa girl out of school?

The stories in Evanescent Passion may not all conform to my tastes, but Kirikaze has to be given credit for the variety of stories.  Water sports, loss of virginity, forced sex with a ‘serves him right’ ending, consensual sex between husband and wife, transdimensional and transgender action make this a well-rounded title.  Personally, I didn’t find the sex scenes all that hot, but I do like futa, so I have to give Icarus some props for publishing a title like this.  That and they are just about the only publisher putting out any legally released ero in the U.S. these days.

Overall Hotness (1 to 5):  3:Pitched Tent
