Nope. Last time I checked no video game movie has ruined the video game - Super Mario Brothers anybody? No prequel, sequel, remake has ruined the original - Phantom Menace, Boondock Saints 2, Crystal Skulls, Crow 2-5, Planet of the Apes, Stepfrod Wives anybody?

All these above movies suck and haven't changed the original in anyway. The same way great prequels, sequels, remakes, etc don't improve the original either. I don't see how they can.

And everybody is bitching about this now but Raimi has complete control. So stop screaming about Hollywood. It's Raimi - who yes, is part of that machine - but it's not somebody completely removed from the originals and in fact is being compelely ran by all the players of the original. Also, Diablo Cody is involved somehow I've read but haven't got back to the article since my computer shut off. But that's alright, I like her style much to the chagrin of others.

The prequel star wars trilogy ruined the REAL star wars trilogy. Should've had Luke wake up at the end of ROTS and say "I had a nightmare that my father was a douche bag"

As for Evil Dead-  I won't start bitching until the cast and premise are anounced.  But I don't have high expectations

Evil Dead scared the shit out of me when I was younger! AoD was definitely the best of the three. I'm all for a remake of this. Sam and Bruce are behind this, so you know they're going to make it enjoyable. Bring it on!

 Personally, I'd rather see a sequel with Bruce back in the lead.  No sense in bitching, they are going to remake it anyway.  To be honest, it was remade into Evil Dead 2.  Which was the superior of the trilogy.  If they turned it into a musical, why not cash in on the reimaging bandwagon.  

 @jedibanner i'm not really seeing how the original is destroyed if they aren't editing it like lucas did to star wars and then burning the original print. in other words - the original isn't being touched, they're just making another movie.

I'm glad that Raimi,Tapert,and Campbell are producing so that's a plus. Wonder if they'll combine the events of  ED 1 and 2, or remake Dead by Dawn as a sequel to the new remake. If anything, would like to see an Evil Dead movie series that takes the fight with the Deadites back to the S-Mart. Bruce could do a cameo as the manager of the S-Mart.
