The much mutated production of the EXORCIST prequel has now mutated to a new name. The film, which originally was to star Liam Neeson under the direction of John Frankenheimer but has lost both in the past few months, is now going on under the direction of Paul Schrader and with Stellan Skarsgard in the lead.
The story follows Father Merrin (played by Max Von Sydow in the original EXORCIST) and his travels fighting demons in late 1940s Africa. The film's new title, appropriately enough, will be EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING. Shooting begins in November for a release next summer.
