Universal Pictures and director Jon Favreau chose the Spike Guys Choice Awards as the venue to air a new extended sneak peek for their summer tent pole, Cowboys & Aliens. Watch it down below. The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Noah Ringer, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown, Ana de la Reguera and Abigail Spencer. Iron Man helmer Favreau took on the direction, based on a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

Plot Concept: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Cowboys & Aliens invades theaters July 29, 2011.

I hope you guys are right cause my reaction to this just "meh" and for whatever reason it just isn't doing it for me. Maybe the low expectations will work in its favor

This movie is reminding me a lot of Scott Pilgrim.  Good fanboy and comic con buzz but may get lost in the shuffle with mainstream audiences.  It does have a good cast and director though so we shall see.

Damn right, Iracors and Redshirt1. They improved the story a great deal from the graphic novel. It seems Olivia Wilde is the alien spy in disguise like in the TPB. She's there to help humanity.

This looks amazing, should do well

Um, krathwardroid, do you mind putting "SPOILERS" in your post for those of us who didn't read the comic book?

Craig has an interesting American cowboy accent.

Best trailer yet for the film.

I really want to see this. I think it is going to be absolutely great. And yes, Krath, that was just a bit too much info, dude.
