What They Say
The American team cancels the big game against the Devil Bats for no apparent reason, but with a bit of creative video editing, Hiruma "convinces" them to change their minds. Later, Sena and Monta search for a much-needed kicker to join the team and find him in a most unexpected place.

The Review
Ya-ha! So that's who Musashi is!! Finally, after a few volumes of beating around bush, the identity of legendary kicker is revealed to Sena and Monta. I didn't notice it at first, but this volume has hardly any football action whatsoever, instead this time focusing more on the characters and the past history with Musashi and the team. It is a very welcomed change of pace, as it helped with connecting with the team and their personalities again off the field. This volume also introduces us to a few new characters from the NASA Aliens, the US team coming to Japan to take on the Devil Bats. The creators' stereotyping reaches a new level with Panther, a black, inner-city kid with corn rows and a headband, as well as the racist Aryan coach who keeps Panther on the sidelines as a ball boy despite his talents. It may be uncomfortable for some, but I hope the deplorable coach gets what's coming to him and the setup between Sena and Panther, two very different yet very similar people, should prove to be exciting in the next volume.

VIZ puts together an above average package as far as SJ titles go. And Murata's artwork continues to be quite energetic with some great line work and detail.
