Variety has broken the news that the next Hammer project will be an adaptation on Jeanette Winterson’s novel “The Daylight Gate”. The novel take place four hundred years ago during the witch trials in England.

The plot of the book: “The novella, set in 17th Century England during the reign of James I, is centered on the notorious 1612 Pendle witch trials, during which a dozen people were charged with the murders of 10 people by the use of witchcraft. That paranoia  crossed the ocean with the Pilgrims and set the scene for the Salem witch hunt in the 1690s”.

Hammer also announced some details on the follow up to their $130 million grossing The Woman in Black. The Woman in Black: Angel of Death will feature Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Phoebe Fox (Switch).

So far Hammer has made a great resurgence with their dark storytelling and gothic settings. Are you ready for more modern Hammer Films? Sound off below Maniac!

The thing about the original Hammer was the beauty of the visuals.  It is not the same without that.

Nothing to see here. The first Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe was terrible.
