What They Say
Erza's childhood friend Jellal has started to play an elaborate board game - with Natsu and his team as enemy pieces to be eliminated. Meanwhile, Siegrain is trying to get the Magic Council to fire a weapon that will wipe out Jellal's tower, killing everyone within it - including our heroes from Fairy Tail!

The Review! (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)

As Erza and her friends prepare to mount their assault on Jellal and his magical tower, they are unexpectedly joined by the self-same goons who had originally kidnapped Erza in the previous volume. Apparently, they have had a change of heart, being that they are childhood buddies of Erza. But they aren't terribly helpful, unfortunately. Jellal has unleashed his Trinity Raven: Vidaldus, Fukuro and Ikaruga—a trio of garishly styled super-baddies—who prove to be more than a match for even the toughest of our protagonists.

Fortunately though, the numbers favor our intrepid heroes, and with a little teamwork they manage to treat us to some satisfying, double team throw-downs. Lucy pairs off with Juvia to take down Vidaldus, while Natsu and Simon struggle against Fukuro till Gray sweeps in to the rescue. Bolstered by some warm-fuzzy, affectionate memories of Erza, Gray pulls off an incredible magical maneuver—he nullifies the fiery attacks of his opponent by overcoming them with his freezing ice powers. Probably the first time for ice to ever beat fire! Fukuro falls, leaving only the deadly Ikuraga to be faced by Erza who is joined by Sho.

This final match ends in a cliffhanger, but not before Erza has a moment of poignant character development. Having lost several layers of her best equip armor magic to Ikuraga's relentless as onslaught, Erza settles on a simple cloth outfit. She now realizes that for all their glory, her armors have only served as a barrier to the friendship and bonds she so desperately needs at her core. Unencumbered by these hindrances, she squares off resolutely for the last round with Ikuraga. Will Erza and her companions emerge victorious, or simply be eradicated along with Jellal and his tower by the Magic Councils cataclysmic solution to this whole conflict?

In Summary:
Erza and company show us some good teamwork in this volume loaded with comedic, action packed battles, moving revelations and rewarding character developments. It seems the long awaited meeting with Jellal is finally just around the corner save for the final obstacle of Trinity Raven, Jellals ace assassin thugs!
