What They Say
Erza and Natsu are trying to stop Jellal from reviving the most feared black wizard the world has ever known! To help in the effort, the Magic Council launches its magic of mass destruction, Etherion. But Jellal knows that the Council's attack could kill both him and the Fairy Tail wizards - and he isn't running away. What is he plotting?
The Review! (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Things are off to a quick start here with Erza and Ikuraga in mid duel. After a deadly exchange, Ikuraga has merely slashed her opponents shoulder, leaving Erza to stand victorious after the clash—she has mortally wounded Ikuraga and now presses on to the showdown with Jellal, having ordered her remaining companions to evacuate the tower. On a separate, but convergent coarse with her, Natsu is bent on backing Erza, but arrives late to the party.
Erza has faired for the worse in her brawl with the deceptive Jellal, becoming ensnared in his traps and mind games. Together, they await an apocalyptic blast from Etherion, the Magical Counsels last resort—a torrential downpour of destructive power. Skies burn and oceans roil as Etherion lands a direct on the tower. But what's this? It's all part of Jellal's incredible scheme—instead of crumbling, the tower actually  absorbs Etherion's hit, feeding off the magical power and transferring it to the revival of the fiendish Zeref. The last piece of the puzzle is the required human sacrifice... Erza! Enter Natsu.
Simon appears to lay down his life for his friends by intercepting a critical shot from Jellal. Natsu, the only one left capable of putting up a fight, seems to be wearing thin till the unthinkable happens. He begins to eat pieces of rubble dislodged from the towers interior during the throw down, thereby consuming the residual magic of Etherion still resonating throughout the walls. With this newfound power-up, Natsu proceeds to wipe the floor with Jellal, simultaneously crippling the tower and setting in motion a cataclysmic explosion of the remaining, uncontainable power. Erza decides to attempt a sacrificial strategy of fusing her body with the tower in order to neutralize the building explosion. Then, in a dreamlike sequence she resolves that it is better to live for her friends than to die for them and wakes to find that Natsu has rescued her from the tower . Together they re-unite with their companions in a touching conclusion to the Erza arc.
In Summary:
When the full extent of Jellals villainous conniving is finally unveiled, courage sacrifice, and true friendship go on display as our heroes rise to the occasion in grand form. This volume presents a rewarding menagerie of stirring moments, stylish action and ultimate revelation—a fitting conclusion to a rousing and fantastical arc.
