FAMILY GUY Spin-Off in the Works

Date: Friday, February 29, 2008

Fox and 20th Century Fox TV are developing a spinoff from its hit animated series "Family Guy" , says the Hollywood Reporter. The show would be centered on Peter Griffin's neighbor, Cleveland Brown. The project, tentatively titled "Cleveland," is being written by creator Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry -- who voices Cleveland and serves as writer-producer on the series -- and "The Simpsons" alum Rich Appel, executive producer/showrunner on MacFarlane's other animated comedy for Fox, "American Dad."

Cleveland, who plays off black stereotypes, is the most levelheaded among Griffin's trio of friends.

In addition to "Cleveland," Fox and 20th TV also are developing a spinoff of the drama series "Prison Break" set at a female prison.

Ok, why Cleveland and Not Glenn Quagmire? Cleveland is the most level headed of Peters friends and thus the most boring...Now Glenn on the other hand would come off really good with his overtly sexual drive plus he is funny as hell, he's no Peter Griffin but he is much more than Cleveland, of course that's just me and my thoughts...

My thoughts exactly mlaforcer. I'll give it a shot. After all he's named after my Cleveland Browns. It's the least I could do.

Quagmire is too obvious and too one dimensional. One of the main things I noticed when Family Guy returned from the dead was that Quagmire did his "gigilies" too much.

Quagmire's a great character, but doesn't deserve his own show. Cleveland can be interesting, but we'll see how he runs with it. I think adult Stewie in the near future would be better.

I hope they give it at least a full season. I didn't care for American Dad that much when it first came out, but now it's really good.

cleveland and quagmire are best friends so i'd expect a lot quagmire in this show. i wouldn't be surprised if the show ended up being called cleveland and quagmire by the time it came out.

Quagmire is the most obvious but MLA is right Cleveland is kind of boring at times. They should have a spin-off with Quagmire and Cleveland, like the Odd Couple.

How the hell is that gonna' work. I mean he lives right next door on Spooner st. Is Cleveland going to relocate simply for the sake of a spin-off? These are the questions we should be askin' people. These are the questions. 'You gonna' eat that stapler?

. . .

The contagion spreads. Must quarantine myself.

Seriously, people, I don't understand how you guys find this show the least bit funny. But hey, enjoy what you want. We all have our own quirky tastes.

Merin, I can say the same for so many other shows. I couldn`t stand Futurama and don`t understand why people do, but hey to each their own.
