Best of:

Joker - Nicholson

Batman - Keaton

Starfleet Captain - Picard (no contest!)

Bond - Connery (again, no contest!)

I can't stand Bale. His gruff voice in The Dark Knight ruined the character. He was better in Begins, but Keaton kicks his ass! Ledger may have made a great character, but it wasn't The Joker. As I have said before, his character should have been called The Maniac. Jack's was far more "Joker Like" than anyone else! And when it comes to CAPTAIN of the Enterprise, Picard takes that role hands down. Shatner sucks. His acting, or lack thereof, is horrible, except a couple of key moments in the films, but they don't compare to Stewarts incredible potrayal as Picard during the series and in the films, especially in First Contact. Now, as far as Bond goes, there really only is one....Connery! Period!

Best Joker...Mark Hamil, then heath.

Best Batman... Micheal Keaton, and if they ever do a " The Dark Knight Returns" (FM's comic)

Best Bond... This one's tough, I will say its not Roger Moore, dont get me wrong I grew up on his Bond and I really enjoy hm and his movies, but he was to oldto play Bond for to many of his films. I half to go with the man that imo is The Best Bond film ever...Golden Eye...Its Brosnon with Daniel Craig a close second and if his next outing is as strong as Casino Royale...well you never no.

Kirk vs Picard... LOL, Now I'm big into trek but this argument is old...sigh... Its Picard. Kirk is the worst Captin in history when it comes to the OS, he's much in emproved in the movies, but still its Pickard. The Question should not be Kirk vs Picard, but Picard vs Sisko...now that one will make you think.

Timothy Dalton was the closest movie Bond to the early books.  But Fleming actually started changing Bond in the later books to be more like Connery once he saw how popular Dr. No was.  I liked Dalton, but they couldn't write a decent script for the guy.

Connery, hands down.  Moore was fun.  Connery was Bond.

Note: in the Connery films, the titles always read, "Sean Connery is James Bond."  For the Moore movies, it read, "Roger Moore as James Bond."  For George Lazenby, it read, "Starring George Lazenby."

Last tidbit:  UA wanted to get Roger Moore for Dr. No, but had to settle for Connery because of Moore's commitment to The Saint TV series.  Makes you wonder how the world would be different if that had happened.

A friend of mine would kill me for this, but although I think Connery is best and I have a huge soft spot for Moore's films, The version that is most like the character from the book is Dalton...

A hard nose bastard, who just happens to look like Hoagy Carmichael a bit, too...

(Fleming said that it was Hogy Carmichael he had in his head when writing the books, although this changed after he saw footage of Connery in Dr. No, even though he was initially against casting him...

BunyonSnipe 4/1/2011 10:23:42 AM

And best Batman and Joker are Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill...

But for live action, I HAVE t5o go with Bale and Ledger!

"It was LaForge, and he could solve any problem with an inverse tachyon beam channeled through the main deflector array while venting drive plasma from the warp coils, which will allow the ship to blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.."    Wyldstaar... OMFG!!! I about pissed myself!! You hit it right on the head. That comment made my whole day...bravo!

Eagle...as much as I like to think we have in common, because we do agree alot on things here in the Mania underverse...1 out of 4, and a no show on MT3000? Really...are we that much different when it comes to The Joker, Batman, and the best CAP? Wow...did I mis read you...but hey, it fits. A little fire never hurt no one (=  We'll always have Connery, I suppose.

Why don't we argue about something that matters?  For example: Who played the best Wyatt Earp? Costner, Russel, Lancaster, Flyn, Fonda, Stewart, or Garner?  Who played the best Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk? Norton, Bana, Bixby, Ferrigno, or CGI?

Future arguments will include: Best Prof. X? Best Magneto? Best Spider-Man? Best Capt. America? Best Superman?

Point being is these things will never end as long as Hollywood keeps recycling their material. I would like to see a college study that links which of these characters you prefer to your personality type or religion.  If you like Nicholson you're a type B Jew, Ledger is for sociopathic individuals who worship talking rabbits...and so on.

cellblock303 4/1/2011 1:12:08 PM

What about Best Dr. Who?

fenngibbon 4/1/2011 3:04:47 PM

Exactly, cellblock!  How could I have forgotten that?

toran 4/1/2011 3:28:53 PM

@ThemanG01

The only real answer to the question of Kirk or Picard is clearly Ben Sisko.

Dude, you just made my day. Thank you.
