MTV runs an article on the story ideas and creative approach being employed by screenwriter Doug Petrie in crafting the script for the upcoming FANTASTIC FOUR movie. Petrie discusses the film's opening scene, and how his creative approach differs from others used on previous drafts of the script.

Petrie says, "It was something like ARMAGEDDON. I just kept saying it's got to be like A HARD DAY'S NIGHT."

He also says, "They're the biggest celebrities in New York City. To the world outside, they are the world's coolest superheroes. [But] when they get home, they just fight with each other about everything. They order pizzas and argue about who gets the better costumes and stuff like that. It's a family comedy when they get behind closed doors."

Petrie goes on to talk about Doctor Doom's mask; in his visualization of the tale, "the mask is the only thing keeping him together."
