@gauleyboy420

What I was trying to say is that any Fantastic Four reboot should continue to pursue the idea of the team as celebrities, but take the tone, plotting/pacing, and better character development shown in The Incredibles.  Although I did not enjoy the first FF film and did not see the second, I do agree that they seemed to have their heart in the right place, and were just poorly executed.

Of course Sony and Fox will not WANT to give up the rights to the Marvel heroes.  But they do not own the intellectual properties to those characters, they license the film rights from Marvel.  Disney/Marvel has made it very clear that they eventually want all of the film rights for the characters to belong solely to them.  The scenario I see playing out is this: Disney wants to buy back the rights, Fox and Sony say no, lawyers get involved, each threatens to sue the other, and after some legal posturing matters are settled out of court with Disney getting the rights in exchange for a lot of money and possible some residuals paid to the other studios in a version of the legal battle that accompanied Watchmen earlier this year.

I hope you're right Animefan.  I've never been a proponent  of Disney as a rule, but like I said they've definitely got the balls and bankroll to bring all of these characters back under one roof where they belong, and as far as terrifying corporate juggernauts go, I think they're smart enough to let Marvel have some autonomy to do what's right for these characters.  Get all of these franchises back under the Marvel Studios banner, and a cohesive cinematic Marvel Universe will be possible.  Between TV and film it really could start a golden age of comic book filmmaking.  Lesser tiered characters could feature in TV movies and series, and the big guns could take Hollywood by storm in a way that we've yet to see.  Reboot the franchises that have failed or faltered and keep doing what works with the ones that have been successful.

The actors in the first two Fantastic films did a fine job, but they can only be as good as the direction and screenplay allows.  I think they should keep the original cast, and just continue the storyline in which ever direction they think would better please the fans.  Many times a series will start shakey (many television series don't even ramp up until their second season it seems), so just improve upon what's been established and go forward.

I think having one of the guys who killed the Bat, director Joel Schmaucher and so/so actor George Clooney are the two definate causes, is a mistake on Foxs' part. The only reason I have Batman and Robin in my dvd collection is that its part of the Batman dvd set. I think they should get a producer, director, ect., who grewup on the Fantastic Four and not looking for a quick buck too be made. As far as casting, I'd go with the same actors for Reed, torch and the thing. Alba was ok, in the first one, but you need smeone who is a stronger female actress. And redo the makeup for the Thing, I missed the large brow the character has in the comics, its kind of his trademark.

  gauleyboy420 is and idiot! Just because "you're" easily impressed doesn't mean the rest of us have to be amazed by cosmic storm clouds and other lame ripoffs!

If the F4 comics were crap then why did FOX bother to make a movie about them in the first place???

Any way.....I can only charish the day that Disney strong arms it's newly aquired characters back from "FUX" and allows them to finally live up to their potential!!!

Disney buying Marvel doesn't totally shock me because movie studios like the "Mouse House" has done this sort of thing before with Pixar and Miramax back in the 90's. However,I don't understand why a few years back Marvel stated that they were going to finance their own films. An intelligent strategy,with their stock skyrocking due to the success of the their characters on film like Spiderman,Hulk,Blade,and Iron Man it seemed like the right thing to do. To my knowledge,Marvel made "licensing" agreements with other studios with characters like Spiderman,Hulk,Fantastic Four,X-Men,and Daredevil,Marvel I'm sure still gets royaties including from those films because a license doesn't mean you own a property. Now Disney is about to buy Marvel for about 4 billion. Why the hell would Marvel sell themselves out like that when they can easily finance their own properties,make even more money long term and retain creative control! Shortsighted thinking and immediate financial gratification is all I can come up with to explain why they'd do that. The Fantastic Four should be "rebooted" because of the disastrous shit and lackluster box office that they turned out to be! I haven't seen FF 2 but judging by the disappointing box office and reviews it I doubt it was any better than the first,which was pure shit! Yet there are people who still like the FF films because they are "kid friendly" or for some other reason. Whoever wants to get off on that is more than welcome but in my opinion,the FF films were nothing more than a dumbed down,overhyped,grossly underwritten,miscasted,cheesy-effects laden,poorly directed supershit from a director like Tim Story,who was too incompetent to take any of it seriously. Instead of making a serious and dramatic superhero epic (like Chris Nolan did with Batman)he made virtually a spoof. Shame on the Fox fools for accepting a terrible script and allowing a director like Story who had no strong film background but rap videos. But it's not too late to start over but hopefully Fox will learn their lesson. The next FF film series doesn't have to be dark,but just to be taken seriously. With a proper cast,good script,much better effects done by better people,a competent director with a stronger film background would go a long way in bringing us what we should have had years ago...a real Fantastic Four epic!

James Gandolfini as The Thing. That would be perfect casting.
