I think that it's brilliant that they are using Zod. Well, not brilliant but it makes sense. This way they are able to shed more light on what it is to be Kryptonian, both the good and the bad, and then further more shine a light on what it's like to be Superman. Zod shows the direction that Superman could have taken if he wasn't such a beacon of truth, justice, and the American way, etc.

True he was in that other movie but that hardly explored anything at all about Superman as opposed to Zod or much of anything else. And seeing as most people who will see this movie aren't that familiar with comics as some of the other fans then it would be nice for it to be addressed to them.

After this they can delve further into his rogues gallery.

Wiseguy: Really? Because all of his movies have succeeded so far? Sucker Punch did friggin' lousy. It barely grossed over its own budget. While Watchmen was certainly better than Sucker Punch, the same can be said for it. 300 was the only one of these three that did extremely well, unless you throw Legend of the Guardians in there. I think the only thing this new Superman movie will give is the action we lucked out on with Superman Returns. By that alone, I think it may be enough to actually warrant a sequel this time. Beyond that, I don't see this movie being anything spectacular.

With Goyer and Nolan pulling the plot, this should be good. I stand by my belief that this first film should be compared to Batman Begins, as we see a little more of the origin. I think we are getting the reason Clark chooses to be Superman and fights Zod, going against his Kryptonian heritage. Much like Bruce went against Raas Al'Ghul and the League of Shadows. The recipe works well.

I am sure in the 2nd Superman movie we will be introduced to Luthor, he'll be the ruthless businessman, not the wacky real estate agent from the Donner and Singer flicks. I truly hope they get a good actor to play him when this happen.s

They better not mess this up like the Ed Norton Hulk crap movie

Has anyone heard if Carle Gugino is going to get a part in this movie. She seems to be Snyder's go-to-gal. I know she is not smokin' hot but its she always does a good job with the roles she gets.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium - very good points!

@littlemikey, haven't heard anything but now that you mention it she would've made for a great Martha. And btw I think she's pretty smokin' in a "milf" sort of way.

@Krathwardroid, I speak for me. I have loved all of Snyder's works so as long as he's allowed work his magic I have full confidence he'll deliver. I thought Sucker Punch was fan-fucking-tastic. A true fantasy epic in the mode of the Heavy Metal magazine.  Watchmen was probably one of the hardest adaptations ever to be tackled. No one can't help that the source material is as graphic as it is and therefore probably turned off a lot of folk. Dawn of the Dead = one of the best horror remakes yet. The guy is a talent with a flare for visuals, SUPERMAN will be epic. As long as the story is good Snyder will make it come alive

I agree with MrJBE and rogue, this is a good way to introduce Krypton and everything that follows. It seems like a natural progression to have to deal with an evil from his home planet first before or at the same time we introduce other elements like Luthor, and hopefully down the line Brainiac or Doomsday where both have ties back to Krypton
