Farewell, FARSCAPE
By: Patrick SauriolDate: Friday, March 21, 2003
After four stellar seasons pushing the envelope for science fiction television, tonight's episode of FARSCAPE brings the series to its end. And in typical FARSCAPE fashion, the title of the episode couldn't be more appropriate: "Bad Timing".
In the finale the war-mongering Scarrans have found out a new way to threaten the safety of Earth and, of course, there's no one to stop them except astronaut John Crichton and his comrades. But if the advance word from the FilmForce reviewer known only as KGB is any indication, the door is open for the return of the FARSCAPE crew. "The final shot in this episode shows why FARSCAPE fans have stuck around for so long," writes KGB in his spoiler-free review of the finale. "The unexpected is commonplace and the results worth waiting for."
And even though FARSCAPE fans were unsuccessful in changing the minds of Sci-Fi programming executives, the door of possibility remains open. Consider it this way: Gene Roddenberry's STAR TREK only lasted two-and-a-half full seasons before NBC canned the show. Whatever became of that sci-fi franchise?
