Fast 6 Villain Cast

And the plot comes to light

By Robert T. Trate     May 10, 2012

Last week, we learned that Luke Evans (The Raven) had been offered the villain role in Fast and Furious 6.  Given that the actor has an increasingly busy schedule as of late (he’s currently filming The Hobbit), we weren’t sure at the time that he’d be able to take the role.  Well, now Variety has confirmed that Evans is currently in negotiations to play the baddie in the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, opposite returning members Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Dwayne Johnson.  Moreover, the casting confirmation comes with some exciting plot details concerning Fast and Furious 6.  Hit the jump for more.

We already knew that the Justin Lin-directed Fast and Furious 6 would be taking place overseas, and Johnson recently told Steve that they’ll specifically be filming in London and Berlin.  Variety’s casting report notes that the plot involves everyone’s favorite street racing crew going across the pond to work on a heist job.  Evans’ villain role is that of the leader of another crew attempting to pull off the same job.  We previously learned that Jason Statham turned down a role in the film, so presumably he was offered this same villain that Evans will be playing.

Before the release of the surprisingly great Fast Five, rumors arose that Universal was toying with the idea of switching up the genre of the franchise and churning out a series of heist movies.  Five got the ball rolling on the whole heist idea, and with the Fast and Furious 6 plot details centering around a heist, it definitely sounds like the rumors were true.

I’m not a huge fan of the franchise but I enjoyed the hell out of Fast Five.  If Fast and Furious 6 maintains the same level of entertainment and injects an interesting heist plot, I’d definitely be up for a few more films in the Fast and Furious Robbers franchise.  The only other newcomer confirmed to the cast besides Evans at this point is Haywire star and MMA fighter Gina Carano (there were rumors of Rihanna circling a villainous role, but those have yet to pan out), so it’ll be interesting to see what cast additions make up Evans’ team.  Fast and Furious 6 starts production this June, with Evans moving straight into the franchise after he wraps The Hobbit.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Spoiler alert...

The Rock should've kicked Vin Diesel's ass in the 5th one. Didn't like how it finished, the Rock was a freaking powerhouse in that movie.

Anyway...may see the new one.

Hey Trate I got a suggestion.  Can you put up the actors/actresses's pictures in the articles instead of X movie update pictures you've been using?

thezillaman 5/10/2012 2:25:54 PM

i hope Gina Carano takes on VIN and the Rock MMA style. because you just know the other girls don't have what it takes to even be a challenge for Carano. i will pay to just watch that part...then again i hope they make Fast 6 even better than the last..

ISn't the Michelle Rodriguez character dead?

westend 5/10/2012 3:33:47 PM

Off topic:  What would happen if Sean Bean and Michelle Rodriguez hooked up?

Wiseguy 5/10/2012 4:50:42 PM

Everyone's character within 20 yards of them would die too.

Off topic, has anyone else seen the trailers for Gangster Squad and Lawless? Those 2 films look superduper awesome. Love me some period mob pieces and the cast on both films are pretty damn impressive,  didn't even recognize Guy Pearce in Lawless, formerly The Wettest Country

Agree with Hanso...where's the picture of the guy???  How are we supposed to know what he looks like?

Fast in Furious series is a guilty pleasure. Love em all, each for different reason, and can't wait for this one.

@wiseguy wow both look great. Great casts, high production values and I luv me some gang action.... that sounds wrong. Will one up you though, have you seen the trailer for Iron Sky? No US release set yet but is an aussie/finnish/german production and has been released in eruope and just came out in Australia yesterday. Will be checking it out tomorrow.

Actually I just stumbled across another funny trailer. Think the writers of this one have seen too many zombie movies and played too much Modern Warfare. Got to check out the trailer for Osombie. Love the viewer warning at the start too.

If you didn't catch the spoiler ending during the credits Westend with The Rock's Hobbs character sitting in the office looking over paperwork while Eva Mendes (her character from Too Fast, Too Furious resurfacing), walking in, he scoffs "If it isn't Toretta, I'm not interested." She shows him a picture of Letty (Rodriguez), seemingly have survived her ordeal identified as one of the suspects in a job of her own that happened off-screen and quips, "Do you believe in ghosts?".... setting things in motion for Fast 6.
